Thats just madness

I agree.

What the hell does "Frog try after 35 seconds in the egg chasing " mean?

A few suggesting Clarke was the deeper of the two strikers today. Bit surprising, would assume he would be the focal point.

His link-up play was top notch according to WM and KJ in the interview just now - great touch and awareness, but with more of a goal threat than Sig, Doyle etc.

He was a good touch footballer as a kid, and as he broke through into our first team, but was stroppy and lazy. Did himself no favours last time around but appears to have grown up the last few years.

Yeah, overall it sounds like he had a steady debut.

Think i would have preferred to see us maintain the 4-2-3-1 though if i am honest, still a wins a win.

Great result, good performance against 10 defenders for most of the match, Sako is a different player over the last 2 games, like the two new strikers we have, they looked very dangerous and could have had a couple of goals each.
Kmac again was outstanding and on his day is the best midfielder in this league.

Cinci it was 4-2-3-1 clarke was playing behind dickho and they looked good, at times it was 4-4-2 but who cares we won and are back up to second again.

On the 2 strikers performance I know which pairing I prefer.

nice one perton

we certainly carry more threat of late, that is for sure.

I would hope so, now being 3rd division.

posted on 1/2/14

hope so what?

Been pretty toothless all season til the last 7 or 8 games.

Looks like Kenny's changes have been positive and Dicko, what can you say, his 3 performances have been excellent and better than just about any other striker performance in a gold shirt this season.

We'd be bleeding deadly in League Two.

I'm really excited about Dicko. Can't wait to see him in the flesh. I pray that we'll get out of this lowly division at the first time of asking, and then manage to compete effectively next season.

And watching how the Premier League strugglers are still producing entertaining games to a world-wide audience makes me wish we'd never thrown it all away so spinelessly just 102 weeks ago.

We shall Bute, no worries at all.

17 games and counting.

Read the E & S report and sounds like another good performance from the lads. Nice to go 2nd too.

Only problem I see, is that not only do Orient have a game in hand, but of the 28 games they've played, only 12 have been at home.

Still, all we need to do is keep on winning. 3 clean sheets in our last 4 matches bodes well and we have the best defensive record in all 4 divisions, (with Chelsea and QPR), who have played less games.

amen to that, but you can't account for weak players bottling it unfortunately.

didn't realise they had played so few home games wolfie, tis a shame as they will likely have a better average points haul at home than away.

but the reality is that it is in our hands, the key games will be against Orient and Brentford, and of course the bonus game being that they play each other as well.

posted on 1/2/14

They will both look at it exactly the same way, Cinci.

posted on 1/2/14

No doubt they will, but that doesn't change the fact it is in our hands.
I reckon 10 wins and a few draws will be enough from 17, but wouldn't be surprised to see us pick up maybe 12 wins anyway.

In contrast with Tuesday's result, where a 3-0 scoreline doesn't reflect on the pressure put onto us, today's 2-0 result doesn't perhaps paint the story of another comfortable, confident and controlled win. Bradford may point to the fact that they hit the woodwork twice, but those efforts aside, they failed to trouble McCarey at all.

When I saw the team line up, I was interested to see how Clarke and Dicko would work, and my initial thought was that Dicko would be the one playing deeper, in the middle of Jacobs and Sako, with Clarke as the lone striker. In reality, it was the other way round, and Clarke spent much of the game playing deep. It was only when Henry came on for Sako that he played as an out and out striker, and actually had a few chances.

I think one of the big differences between now and earlier in the season is just how comfortable our entire team is in possession. Even McCarey is more than happy to have the ball played back to feet. I watched the team warm up before the game, and they were playing a one touch game, and it was superb, even the defenders were moving the ball about easily. A lot of credit has to go to Kenny Jackett for the way the side are playing now.

Like I say, it was a fairly comfortable victory, made easier by the Bradford red card, which was correct in my opinion. If, as a player, you're daft enough to go into a tackle like that having already been booked, you deserve everything you get. It didn't stop Bradford moaning though, their captain, Jones, in particular, was in the referee's ear all game. It says something of our midfield's domination that that's all I can recall him doing.

The first half was full of neat link up play, and had we been able to find some quality from our countless corners, we may well have had more than just McDonald's clever finish to show for it. Both Jacobs and Sako struggled to beat the first man from the corner, and when the ball did get into the box, it fell for Bradford's defenders to hack it clear more often than not.

Second half, we continued to press, and as Bradford's ten men tired, more space opened up for Jacobs and Dicko particularly to create chances. In the end we only needed one more goal to make it safe, but we could have had a couple more.

Ratings:

McCarey- 7. One poor kick out which gave Bradford a decent free kick, but other than that, an easy afternoon.

Ricketts- 7. Was left exposed at times by the lack of cover, but defended well when asked to.

Batth- 8. Superb afternoon's work, defended stoutly in the air, and started the move for the second goal with a superb interception.

Stearman- 7. Got caught square once, but recovered to make a timely tackle. Always happy to bring the ball out from the back.

Golbourne- 7. One really important header at the back post, and generally defended well.

Jacobs- 7. Another lively game, always happy to receive the ball and try to create something, often got crowded out though. Nice pass to Sako in the build up to the second.

Price- 7. Another simple and effective game, always looked forward with his passes, and always had plenty of time on the ball.

McDonald- 8- MotM. Another super game in the middle, he makes the game look so easy at times. Bradford couldn't get near him at times. Very cool finish for the opening goal too, passed it in!

Sako- 7. Lively performance, and claimed two assists. Had the beating of his full back all game, but was taken off after a ridiculously harsh booking.

Clarke- 7. Not a bad performance, and had he managed to grab a goal, most Wolves fans would be purring. Did a lot of work with his back to goal, and worked some chances through sheer hard work, which is encouraging.

Dicko- 7. Grabbed another goal, and had the pace to keep the Bradford defence on the back foot all game. Grew into the game, and when we began to counter more as the second half went on, became more prevalent in our play.

Subs:

Henry- 6. A nice cameo, with plenty of running and good control.

Where are you watching the games, Cinci?

posted on 1/2/14

Tara sends them to me, not seen as much the last month through travel etc, but watching chunks here and there.

posted on 1/2/14

Okay. Was surprised at how thorough your match and player analysis was. If you watched the game that's fair enough.

The one above is from elsewhere, as you are fully aware, i assumed it was common knowledge by this stage of the season, given we have played 29 games and i have done this something like 20 times

posted on 1/2/14

I suspected as much, but didn't want to accuse you. I don't see the point of copying and pasting other people's opinions, without a credit.

posted on 1/2/14

Yeah, but i guess thats more down to the fact that you are desperate for an argument.
You can take that shít elsewhere though
