I dont see Jose's mindgames as directed at City. He specifically mentioned games were the refs decisions were called into question. Its not about unsettling city but ramping up the preasure on the ref.

lee of course they were directed at city. Tonights ref now has to think twice when making judgements as we have benefitted from dubious decisions according to the oracle that is moanrinho.

No edin they were directed at the ref to gain Chelsea an advantage against city. However had he mentioned the refs and decisions he would have been fined and possibly sent to the stands. Yes it coild effect city but only as far as the ref might question his own actions.

I got half way down but it gave me shudders, took me back to a dark time after education, yet to land a job when I stayed up three days straight playing Football Manager and started hallucinating.

pplf,
I have seen someone to take the ticket off me.
Hope you don't mind?
As for Mourinho, I think he will send out his thugs to kick David Silva tonight. And scream to high heavens if they get booked. That's why he is trying to indirectly influence the ref for tonight.

He's has an Indian sign over Pellegrini? Honestly

Sloppy lazy journalism all round and as for Jose, well what might we expect. So obvious, so clumsy. With his experience you'd think by now he'd have come up a more original act. Same old rubbish from him

The great thing about Jose's "mind games" is that Manuel will never bite, which in itself is a form of silent mind game.

Mourinho is a clever man but Pellegrini is wiser and smarter and deep down thinks he's a bit of a tool.

The game earlier in the season highlighted this.

but lee they were specifically city incients, so indirectly it is a jibe aimed at city as much as trying to influence the ref.

I think too much gets made of minds games, the press ask questions and managers answer them, how much baring that has on the game I doubt. If Mourinho or Ferguson answers a question everyone if so ready to read mind games in to it.

Mourinho releases a different soundbyte every day though, all designed to spark debate.

I agree bluedroog. If Negredo or Eto have a chance tonight, whether they miss or score will not be because of anything either manager has said.

The media release a different sound bite everyday. He talks to them once a week at the regular press conference.

Bóllocks, he's always talking to them.

I am honestly unsure why people get offended by Mourinho, he is quite a laugh really, he plays the media and they know it and are happy to go along with it. It is just what it is.

What saddens me is the vitriol that City fans seem to have shown for us in the last few days, as I have been very much fond of City as a club who helped to break the dominance of the big teams, similar to us. If it were not for City and Chelsea, English football would be in a much worse position and would be a lot less interesting.

I haven't seen anything particularly vitriolic Oscar? There's been a bit directed to Mourinho, but there always will be, he is an emotive manager! Nothing towards you as a club though?

Nothing against Chelsea as a club or any of the people on here, they appear to be some of the best on this site.

That may change at 9:45 this evening of course.

I initially liked Jose the first time around, possibly as we were not competing at the same level.
He has become a touch tedious now.

Nothing against Chelsea only the odious little toad Maurine.

He's always spouting off about other teams.

To be fair, I think if Mourinho was manager of your own team, then fans really wouldn't mind it that much. It's certainly not a style of management that I myself could do or would want to, but I do respect it. He is a very very clever (and ruthless, to a point) man, which is something a lot of the top managers have in common.

Pellegrini appears so far to be an exception, just seems a thoroughly nice and down to earth bloke!

I don't particularly like the way Jose is with the press sometimes, I much preferred the more stately approach of a Ranieri in his day or a Pelligrini.

The Media though are as much responsible for a managers image as the manager themselves.

When it suits like with Ranieri, they can be statesman like, tactical, a spotter and developer of talent when it doesn't they are tinker men, clown like, clueless etc.

I used to dislike Ferguson and whilst I wouldn't claim to be a fan now, I long ago realized that the elements I didn't like about him went a long way to making him what he was, the most successful manager in English football to date.

I can quite understand Jose getting to fans of rival clubs, any club.

It does make me chuckle though to think that some might actually care that what they think of him bothers me. For me the benefits far and easily outweigh the drawbacks.

Exactly what I say too. I can see how it led to in terms of achievements, its just not a style that I would personally ever be capable of.

I respect it, but don't admire it, essentially.

I admired it but didn't respect it.

Same as some of some of Uniteds' marketing methods.
