Anyone but Chesterfield! They beat us last time & that was a day to forget! Living in Leicester, I had the misfortune to be on the same train as them, there & back. I took, & paid for, my grown up daughter with me as company, so it was an expensive day out. But I had been to all of our games at Wembley over the last 50 years. But now, being a pensioner recovering from a broken hip, if we get there, it isn't worth the cost or effort anymore. Not for this competition anyway. Play offs might be different. I always have had a soft spot for Posh. Similar sized clubs with similar fan base. I actually lived there for 6 months back in 69 & used to go to the games mainly to get me out of the house where I was lodging.
I do hope that the pitch is playable & that it is a good game. The last time I was there, I think we lost 5-4. Mind you, in the time I lived there, it wasn't the rain that caused problems, but the fog!
I hope we take this seriously Red, it's the only chance of success this season. We won't make the play offs, and that's no bad thing in my opinion as we're far from ready to move up a level.
I remember the Chesterfield final, I expected us to win as they were on their way down and us on the way up, however Canioman's team selection did for us and we lost to the better side on the day. I still blame him!
Thorney, there's still time to turn your season round, I still think you'll make the play offs and then who knows. I think you'll be too far ahead after Wednesday for us to have much chance in the return.
It comes to something when we have to judge our season on the results in the paint pot.
A belated Happy New Year to all you Swindon chaps, and I hope you murder the Posh tomorrow. Watch out for Britt Assombalonga though, he was dynamite when on loan with us last season and he appears to be scoring for fun this time round. Good luck lads, the JPT final is still a brilliant day out (even if you get stuffed like we did).
Hello Roots, TP and my Swindon friends!
Assombalonga scored against us at the start of the season. Definitely one to watch for....
The Paint Pot, or the Muppet Cup, as I affectionately refer to it....I find it difficult to work up much enthusiasm tbh. The only time I did so was when we got to the final a couple of years ago, and I ended up regretting it! As mentioned above, given the likelihood of mid-table obscurity in the league, I suppose it does offer some interest. But it'll be difficult to trump the Posh over two legs.
Welcome all (even Rootshallbloke - thanks, though, for Britt)!
No rain (or fog!) today, but the former expected (everywhere) tomorrow. Our pitch should, however, be OK.
We've never got anywhere in the JPT in the past, so this first is welcome, plus the prospect of a run-out at Wembley before the play-offs (if we should be so lucky).
Posh strikers Nicky Ajose (Hon Robins striker) and Conor Washington and new defender Jack Baldwin are cup-tied, with the latter also suspended. Swindon are without suspended Alex Pritchard and Troy Archibald-Henville.
Missing players then, but should still be a good game.
Who will win, Fergie or Mark Cooper (Hon Posh Manager)?
Naturally, I want a big Posh win, to inspire confidence ahead of Saturday's away game at Leyton Orient.
Play up the Posh!
Thorney, do you still have that toff in top hat and tails with a big cigar walking round the pitch before games?
We only have a robin.
Yes, Don, Mr Posh is still plying his trade although in these health-conscious days without a cigar. He's accompanied now by a lovely lass with the longest legs, also dressed in top hat and tails. They say hello and distribute sweets to everybody (even the opposing fans, though from a "safe" a distance).
As for today's game, the heavy winds and rain reached the Peterborough area about 7am and are set to be a full day feature, jeopardising tonight's game.
TP having seen the torrential rain this am, and recent pictures of fat Barrys london rd allottment, then i cannot see todays game going ahead.
Good luck if it does, but it will not be a spectacle.
Always thought you were Mr Posh in disguise, i always find him a rather dubious character.
Wonder what crowd you will get, cant understand 7 15 kick off.?
Could be 10 straight wins for us on sat in front of nearly 30000.
If the weather is that bad there, then I hope that someone makes an early decision. I know from my own experience that travel by public transport from N Wilts to Peterborough is not easy, particularly with a tube strike in London.

Thanks Anfield (good choice of team support, by the way!). The Posh fan was unconscious but regained consciousness prior to being shipped to hospital. Hoping that he stabilises there, and exits to attend future games.
The ten Robins men played well. As usual, though, our defence committed suicide. Still, makes the second leg a very interesting prospect.
Hope that we win the second leg, TF, to outdo the Foxes and make a Wembley appearance (or two) this season
Latest on the Posh fan: he required CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation) at the match. Overnight, his condition has improved. In the right place at the right time, in a sense, with all the medical assistance to hand.

I did say that the clubs are very similar. Sometimes one has a better time than the other. This season, IMO, you couldn't put a cigarette paper between the two sides.
I would have thought that Darren Ferguson and his players would have learnt by now that, not only does Nile Ranger have a reputation off the pitch, he's dangerous on it.That's twice he's scored against Posh in as many games, the latest in beating Posh's off side trap. Perhaps Posh should have signed him when he was available.
I wish they had, Deacon. Would have given us a lot less grief. We could have taken some time & invested in someone else.
Maybe, because we didn't sign him because he has been troublesome. Wish though that he wouldn't keep scoring against us. One to watch out for in the second leg.
P.S. the 67-year-old Posh fan is sitting up in his hospital bed and wanting to go home. Chairman Darragh MacAnthony is to treat him to a special matchday out at Posh when he recovers.
I am happy to hear that the guy is recovering. If you are going to be taken ill like that, then what better place to get medical attention.
As for Ranger, I don't know when his court case comes up. It was supposed to be last month. If it is between now & the 2nd tie, he could be sewing mailbags instead of scoring goals.
Thorney...glad Ray Stratton is improving. I hope our club invite him as our guest for the return game.
Tough one for you at the O's tomorrow, good luck. We're at Port Vale, I just hope we display the same grit and determination we did on Wednesday.
Thanks, guys.
Good luck against Port Vale
