Jones is decent, but I don't think he'll ever be a top quality CB. Good squad player though.
I wanted to see Jones' progress because Wenger said he was looking at him, but after a few games I gave up, I just didn't really see anything outstanding tbh. Smalling will have a bright future if he stops getting messed about.
A defensive partnership is hugely important, I remember the facking lunatics on the old 606 saying Wenger should be sacked because we didn't go in for Roger Johnson or Scott Dann I told them it was their partnership more than anything, but I was ignored.
I think he can be a top cb if he's played there consistently. He has a bit of everything, although his passing needs to improve, and his physical attributes make him the ideal partner for Smalling - he could be a similar player to Vida, but could is the operative word.
What I like about Jones is that he seems to learn from his mistakes and not get overawed by them. He's had a couple of howlers and kept bombing forward in his first season but he cut it out of his game in his second season - he used to go on these Luiz-esque runs and be out of position, I think that's where Sheriff gets the impression that's he's good going forward, but it was coming forward with the ball rather than passing it out of defence which is what he was good at.
He's only 21 as well so has so much time to improve, just how good he will be I'm unsure, however.
I remember your fans raving about them.
Pique i think is pretty good.
An unpopular name but Angelo Ogbonna is arguably the best of the lot atm.
He has such a cultured left-foot and his long and short passes are the envy of playmakers.
Koscielny used to drive forward with the ball a lot and looked dangerous with it, but now that Bould is around he doesn't do it anymore which I assume is down to Bould. He's a more solid defender for it though so you can't have it all.
On another note, I thought it was most comfortable on the ball, not most attacking? As it goes Koscielny is incredibly relaxed on the ball (sometimes too much) and can pick a good forward pass with a high completion ratio.

"I really dont get it. What on earth does Koscielny do going forwrd with the ball? As I said, Jones may not be elegant but he contributes a lot more offensively ith his runs and passing than Koscielny does. And Jones has been one of United's few bright spots in midfield this season - including when we played them. Talking out of your ar.se."

He finds team mates with passes. He doesn't pass the ball to an opposition player and then run into him and foul him. Is that your idea of being good on the ball? Because that's all Jones does. Shocking player.
So, when United were blowing us to smitherens 8-2, Jones was just finding Arsenal players with his passes? Or even when we played Man U this season, when he was pretty much the dominant midfielder on the park, all he was doinng was finding Arsenal players? Sounds like a myth to me. Just googling his pass completion through several matches and his pass completion doesn't go below the mid 80's percentage. And almost always in the 90's when he plays in defence.
Jones is not a great defender - yet - but there's nothing "shocking" about him. It's the black or white sensationalism of the modern fan with no middle ground. He's a young, talented defender with potential greatness ahead of him. Especially if managers can stop moving him all over the park and allow his game naturally evolve in a favoured position.

You think an alcoholic and Capello are more reliable than me? Sums up the kind of person you are tbh.
youhave to give Sheriff credit at least he does know how to back his players, our fans could learn a lot from him.
Exactly.
It takes a special kind of supporter to stick up for the likes of Jones and Ashley Young. Fair play to the guy.

Sheriff, do you realise you're debating with a guy whose football knowledge has allowed him to beat Bronby IK at the pro level of FIFA '14?
Sheriff, in Dubbed and Kamran, you have the footballing equivalent of Tweedledee and Tweedledum along with their acolytes.
I'd ignore such ramblings.
