but I would find it hard to believe that Lerner would stay if a consortium offered him £250m to go tomorrow - his life would be far easier drinking cocktails on a beach somewhere with his family than it would be trying to appease Villa fans
-----------------------------------------------------------
Think this is where the article has missed the point. Lerner doesn't strike me as a cocktails-on-the beach type. He wants to enjoy life, get something postive out of it. And one way of doing it is following Villa, like every other fan, from whatever walk of life. I believe he does watch live feeds of every match, even if he rarely turns up in person. It offers an escape from the other things in life.
I think he's no intention of selling up, and he's probably OK with the progress being made under Lambert. I don't think he says anything, because there isn't much he can say, except yes he supports the manager etc, and in football today such statements don't mean a thing.
Unfortunately we're just stuck in a miserable time to be a Villa Fan. The football by and large is dire, progress is really a snails pace and Lambert is operating on peanuts. There are probably about 6 players in our squad that belong in The Premiership, the rest are awful.
Lerner might be a stable, we'll meaning owner but we'll never compete or win silverwear under him. Mid table at the very best is all we can hope for, for the foreseeable future. Either way you cut it, it's just energy sapping shrug of your shoulders football for a Club that should be competing at a much higher level.

Very good article but not sure what I want to happen.
Just want to be challenging for something instead of battling relegation
