When I saw the first picture I thought the writer had selected a picture to suit their argument, they may still have, but to have 4 glaring pictures is more substantial.
I'm sure when Moyes took over at the club, he waxed lyrical about German football and their ethos to play through the middle and concentrate on the middle of the pitch.
Now he'e saying the wing play is in the DNA of the club. What about your own ideas???
I thought he wanted to shake the SIr Alex shadow off??
Play your own game David.
Not surprised to be honest. it is why opposing teams run through our midfield when they get the ball. There is more than enough space to run into
Good article. Really does show how and why we've been so one dimensional.
The really surprising thing is that nine of our best players are suited to this. RVP, Rooney, Kagawa, Mata, Januzaj and Carrick are all far more suited
To the way Bayern play.
Hopefully Moyes sees this. It was a very interesting article and explains a lot. We need Rooney to drop in the hole and provide that option, or we drop one of him and RVP.
I wouldn't mind seeing us play:
Carrick Fellaini
Januzaj Mata Kagawa
RVP
I think the players just need to run towards the ball not away from it. I know that's a major change of philosophy but that's the long and short of it.
-------------------De Gea
Rafael----Smalling----Jones------Evra
-------------------Carrick
Januzaj----Mata-----Kagawa---Rooney
--------------------RVP
lets just fecking go for it, nothing to lose now
http://livelifeunited.com/manchester-united-david-moyes-tactics-woes/
this shows that Carra's is the problem
Interesting article but I think if the same kind of illustrations were available from the last 2 or 3 seasons under Sir Alex they wouldn't have looked all that different. Our style of play has been this poor for quite a while, it's nothing new. The main difference now is that we don't seem to have the belief to still get the result when we are playing badly.
As a city fan I feel compelled to point out that the pictures used appear to be from our game in Munich this season. Perhaps illustrating Pep's tactical genius would be better achieved by using a game Bayern actually won. I would also point out that the pictures are taken from the first 10 minutes or so of the game when our RB was playing with an injury. Once we had a decent right back on, the cute little triangles weren't so evident.
IMO Bayern were a better side before Pep took over.

It's very easy to paint whatever picture you like from 4 or 5 stills taken from a 90 minute match
I think its a fair point, the game has moved on a bit and the top teams like to break as a midfield and strike pairing, so front 5 if you like.
I watched the UTD Fulham game, and it was woeful how easy it was to defend against, moyes needs to bring in a different sort of player and change the way td play.
if you continue down the route of hitting balls over yor midfield and crossing it into the box, the other teams will break on your like Fulham did and destroy your aging back 4.
I can only see 4 or 5 more defeats for utd this season which was unthinkable last season!
I agree that it is easy to paint whatever picture you like with only a few photos, however the photos of our team do back up what we all thought. The space between our midfield and the strikers is too much. Moyes is trying to keep rooney happy by playing him up front but this is affecting the team. We need our CM's to push higher up just on the half way line and then we need a number 10 to make himself open at all times at stay within the centre of the pitch, not moving out wide. The wingers then have the option of either crossing it, playing it to the number 10 or CM's or up to the strikers.
Against Arsenal I would probably drop one of rooney or RVP. Play Mata in behind.
We could however play Mata as a Right attacking midfielder, so not totally out wide and play rooney in the hole too.
I wouldn't mind seeing us play:
Carrick Fellaini
Januzaj Mata Kagawa
RVP
..............
I wouldn't mind seeing United play with this line up either.
If I hated United.
Carrick and Felaini. WTF are you smoking?

Who else we going to play there. Fletcher was diabolical vs Fulham. Fellaini at least offers strength and all he will have to is be open and pass the ball to better players.
Who else we going to play there.
............
I would reather see Giggs play along side Carrick than Fellaini.
If Jones is fit, Jones plays DM and Carrick AM.

You obviously missed Fellainis games for us, so I will up date you.
No, he doesn't offer us strength. I have actually been quite surprised by this to be honest. It is the one thing I thought he would bring.

I have seen him play every game for us. He hasn't been great, so do you say lets not play him again. The only other option is fletcher. He needs a rest as can be seen from the Fulham game. We have no other choice.

We have less options in CM than at LB. Plus Fletcher is less of a liability than Fabio.

I thought Fletch's display against Sunderland was one of the worst from a United midfiled player I had seen since the days of Mclair.
