Yeah like they say in scouser land carm down

But I agree that Gerrard is the right player for business end of the season.
I have seen many articles here from Liverpool "fans" who were saying that LFC win games without him.

Well the Fulham game showed when the chips are down, Liverpool can't win without their captain marvel.

He has been a great servant to the club, a loyal player which is a rarity these days.

I do laugh at those id0ts who question Gerrard.

It might have just been to his mates in the corner of the ground!

Gerrard is now playing in a position which suits him and the team much better, which BR has recognised.

His celebration was fantastic but my guess is it was as much relief then anything else following a highly pressurised situation for him. It was crucial penalty, I was cacking it watching him take it. To see it hitting the back of the net would have been a special moment for him.

I never noticed at the time, but presumably he was booked for his celebration because he removed his shirt. Another farcical rule if you ask me.

Pass of the season

Agreed, PPD, a stupid rule. But it wasn't Gerrard that won the game, it was the team, especially Sturridge and Teixeira who both bust a gut to get in there and score. And we had to, because the poor quality of the Red's play, up until the 70th minute, was second class, second to Fulham's.

Toure and Skrtel's horrendous errors aside, I didn't think we played too badly against Fulham jimmy. We deserved to win imo, but we just made it very hard for ourselves. I never said Gerrard won us the game, but the pressure on him when taking that penalty was huge. Anybody would realise how important that was, winning the game in the dying minutes is something we haven't been able to do very often recently, even if it did take a rush of blood from the Fulham right back and Gerrard's cool head for us to do it. If I was a Fulham supporter I would have been spitting feathers about Riether's decision to dive in. It was a horrible piece of defending and ultimately must have played a part in the manager losing his job.

Fully agree with your observation there PPD; the pressure on StevieG must have been immense. Full marks to their goalie too, he got his hands on the ball but couldn't keep it out.
The reason for my own negativity, I suppose, comes from the fact that it caused physical pain to watch the game. Maybe Im getting too old to go for a full 95 minute heart attack!
