For sure, I'd much rather play Fabregas as a striker than Giroud. It's a tough choice but I'd rather have RVP because we already spunked too much money getting Ozil to give a fack about Cesc.
JustAnotherGunner, thanks for that. I understand why he should be considered. He is one of the best strikers in the world.
However, even on a non-emotional level it makes no sense:
Further injury issues
Getting Old
Would be disruptive to our dressing room
He's a glory hunter with no investment in the club. When the going gets tough, he's been proven to simply go pack his bags.
Fabregas is once a generation player so him no question about it
Cesc does it in the big games RVP never could.
Fabregas anytime. RVP never.
I wish he would leave that sinking that is Barcelona and come back home
100% Fabregas.
As a few have said he's not what we need in terms of positional priority (we need a striker) but he is simply too good and has plenty of years left in him. RVP although brilliant and in the position we most need to strengthen is getting old, perhaps struggling more with injuries and for say £40m (insane amount of money but we easily could spend that) we could do a fair bit better in the long run.
