I also blame him for winning us the league in 2001–02, 2003–04 and the cup in 2002, 2003, 2005
Can't blame Henry for Henchoz cheating, really.
@Ozilla.. lol.. true
Although this is supposed to be a negative article about him
I love Henry. And I admit his miss when one on one with the goalie when we were 1-0 up with about 15 in to go in the 2006 CL final was heartbreaking......
I don't actually blame him as these things happen but I do mention it when people start going on about players now missing the target or failing to score.
It happens to the best.....
If this logic is allowed then Bergkamp cost us the League and FA cup in 1999 and gave Man U the treble with his last minute penalty miss, in the FA cup final v Man U in normal time played.....
**I mean FA Cup semi-Final.....
"Can't blame Henry for Henchoz cheating, really."
Exactly - it's one of the things that irks me about the (incorrect) claim that Henry has never scored in a final.
Either Henchoz doesn't handball it, in which case, Henry scores, or Henchoz does, in which case, he should be sent off and we should get a penalty, which probably would have been even better than a goal for us. The fact that the referee got the decision wrong shouldn't have any bearing on Henry's quality.
Regarding the CL final, people talk as if these chances were handed to Henry on a plate - but it was his movement, constant running, and skill which was a catalyst in creating the two chances. And to be fair, Valdes did very, very well with both opportunities.
It was also his freekick which got us the goal.
Finally, I'd say that were it not for him, we probably wouldn't have reached those finals - almost certainly not the CL final anyway.
I blame Henry for the goal against Real Madrid that won us that tie.... selfish git.
What a pathetic article. Hes human. Even Ronaldo and Messi have their off days.

wish Messi had an off day a couple of seasons ago against us.....
I honestly still believe that the reason why He ry didn't get a penalty for his Henchoz shot was because he didn't protest enough. I reckon had he ran over to the ref and p staked a proper claim, the ref would have blown

Yeah but Henry always conveniently had his off days in finals.
Henry was a mental midget if required to be the bulwark, the leader, the outlet.
When pressure is off - as in Zidane marshalling the trips for France in knock-out competitions, Henry flourished in finals.
Nah Henry is the final bottler.
"Yeah but Henry always conveniently had his off days in finals."
I know this was probably intended as a slight tongue-in-cheek wind-up, but since this is a common misconception, I have to say that it's simply not true.
As has been aforementioned, were it not for a Henchoz handball, Henry would have scored in the 2001 FA Cup Final. Henchoz should have been sent-off for that act, and we should have had a penalty, which probability suggests we would have more than likely scored. Henry's quality shouldn't be affected by the misjudgements of the official - that play was worth at least a goal (the penalty and red card at the stage probably would have been worth more).
Then there's the Euro 2000 final, in which Henry was man of the match. And the Confederations Cup Final, where he scored the winner and won man of the match, before being crowned the top goalscorer and best player at the tournament.
And let's not forget the CL final, which is usually used as evidence for Henry's proclivity to 'bottle it'. Henry single-handedly led the line against one of the best club sides since the turn of the Millennium. He may have missed a good opportunity, but it was his hard work that made it all possible - he terrorised Puyol and Marquez that game, and even got the assist for our goal.

I take it you never saw him against Madrid? Or Inter Milan? Or Chelsea? Or Roma? Or Man Utd? Or a whole host of other top clubs?
It is true. Final bottler.

He's doing a Mourinho, insulting/wumming other teams to try and deflect from his own teams failings
