Probably should have built the car before testing
man devil
not looking good for red bull , think the problem is more red bull related than renault as caterham managed some decent mileage ,
depends what it is i suppose , if it is just a bodywork issue then it should be a relatively simple fix anything else i would imagine would take a little longer -
looking good for all the merc cars at the minute , would imagine most of them are going to be up the business end of the grid after qual at melbourne --
if this continues red bull will have no chance in melbourne
The problem is definitely a redbull one martial. Agreed. Would never rule them out though, they are not 4 time champions for nothing.
Looking good for the mercedes powered cars at the moment. I am not opposed to redbull winning a 5th title, just do not want it to be so easy.

Agreed, Vik.
With a man like Adrian Newey running the show, rule the Bulls out at your own peril.
The problem is, can they fix the problem before lights out in Melbourne? And if they can't, can they fix them before it's too late to challenge for the title?

They struggled with tyres, this is an engine problem which is more complex. It will take time to sort out but they will get it right.
And even then they didn't really solve the tyre issues, they just cried and stamped their feet at Pirelli and the FIA until they gave in like the parents who are only getting 2 hours of sleep a night.

Exactly
Mercedes had 2 issues today but Rosberg is on the pace now.
So, no one has an advantage and an engine may blow up during the course of races (not hurting drivers of course).
Happy days
Hopefully this will make the F1 more competitive and fun to watch.
On a side note, how did the Mcclarens do?

Nando and Bottas have put some miles in
Rosberg did a decent set of laps after his problems early on as well.
Interesting
BBC Radio 5 live pit-lane reporter Jennie Gow
"A bit of detail on the state of play with the Renault engines at the moment. They are not being able to run the full mapping and are about 100-150bhp down on the Mercedes and Ferrari. Teams are not being allowed to do any functionality testing - just running round in circles at a lot less power than everyone else. They have improved massively in a short space of time but there is still a long way to go."
Red Bull have suspended running for the day after discovering a mechanical problem.
Red Bull race engineering co-ordinator Andy Damerum said the team came across the mechanical problem, which they haven't encountered before, when making tweaks over lunch.
"Because of its nature it means we have to take the car apart," he said. "These issues are of course frustrating but this was unrelated to the others so it's just a case of tackling each issue as it appears. A tough night in prospect but we hope to get a good day in tomorrow."

I think its the RedBull packaging, Newey likes to pack things quite tightly to improve Aero. He may have to rethink his approach.
They will get it right though, of that I have no doubts
