If Derby go up this season. I can see a lot more players following him to Bramall Lane. Ward buxton Eustace....
I don't think either Ward or Bucko would have to drop down to Division 3 if we were to let them go, Wassa... perhaps Eustace as he would be a season nearer retirement.
The other two could easily do a decent job for a mid-table Championship team; I expect Billy will have his scouts watching them already
Got to agree with you Wassa - Ward, Bucko and Eustace def not up to Prem standards. 666 is also right (make note 666, twice in a day!) Ward and Bucko are good enough for this level but then both of them are Nigel's men and Sheff Utd is a big club at that (or even our) level.
Think all 3 could be given 1 year contracts, a consistent Ward has a good chance even as a squad player, Bucko kept a very good defender on the bench in Keane, we've been saying he's not good enough since he got here, what's the man got to do? Eustace experience seeing out a game with 10-20 mins would be handy too.
Don't think there's a huge gulf between top 10 Championship and bottom 10 Pemiership.
2W - "Eustace experience seeing out a game with 10-20 mins would be handy too" implies we might be ahead in games on holding on to a lead. I like your attitude!
Of the 3, Bucko is the one I might keep just because he is such a hard worker.
Not just his work ethic, Peeder, as that should be the minimum we expect from professional players at the highest level, but he genuinely has pride in himself as a footballer, with the possible exception of the al jazeera beard thing he has going on.
His spirit would be a huge miss from the changing room.
I echo everything 2W says!
In the event of a promotion, the plan shouldn't be to rip up the squad that got you there - the players that should be freed are the players OUTSIDE the regular 18-20 (Freeman, JOC, Gjokaj, Bailey or Coutts, Davies, Ball) with attempts made to renew the loans of Wisdom/Bamford and to bring in 3 or 4 'Premier League quality' players to improve the squad inc LB, CB & CDM.
If you go up and go down with the same/slightly stronger squad that got you there it isn't the end of the world!
666 - thats kind of where I was coming from. His overall attitude is exemplary and he has to be a positive influence on younger players. I suspect he will turn out to be a very good coach one day. Both my lads regard him in some awe.
Bucko week in week out, `shows' that he does actually care for the shirt.
Should be team captain, definitely keep him for the prem as back up
Peeder I did smile whilst writing the seeing games out bit.
I would also like to echo the additional comments Milf made whilst echoing my original comment.
I'm glad to see davies gone. I think he was a bad signing and not good enough to play for Derby. Just got to get rid of the other rubbish now. Ball, Gjorkaj, Freeman, Hoganson, O'Connor, Naylor.
Regarding Buxton, I don't know what he has to do to get some praise from fans. He's probably player of the season up to yet. He cares about the club and takes pide in wearing the shirt unlike people like Ward who doesn't care about what performance he puts in. I don't know what else Russell has to do to start ahead of him. If Buxton isn't good enough then Keogh isn't.
I thank Davies for his Derby County service if only for that magical goal against Leeds a few seasons ago. From a corner he volleyed it from the opposite corner of the penalty area into the goal. Anyone else remember that?
Buxton is the most improved player IMHO. Dependable (most of the time!), fantastic commitment to the cause, but for me the revelation this season is his passing, some of which has been sublime.

Larry i'm not knocking you for what you're saying. But watch the second half of the QPR game. that's just one example
Davies has robbed a living off Derby since he signed.
He did score a great winner against the dirties a couple of seasons ago, was he really given a fair crack of the whip ya think Griff?
Sorry Larry, just reread the thread and you've already highlighted that goal, it was a thing of beauty.
Wassa - hence my comment "most of the time". Buxton can be fantastic, but he's not fantastic often enough to be a top level player. I do love him though. perhaps it's the beard.
The beard does give him an edge alright.
I do Igor. I just thought he wasn't good enough to play for Derby.
He was a better crosser of a ball than anyone we have at the club at present.
thats all he had mate. wasn't good at back tracking, couldn't beat a man. Clough tried to get rid of him 6 months after signing him. Forsyth is the best crosser we have now.
Robbed a living is a bit harsh. He was committed to the cause.
Hard to argue with that.
Forsyth does have a great left peg ok.
maybe so Larry, but he refused to go out on loan a couple of times to play some games, instead he chose to be at derby not playing and taking a wage.
