Interesting stat

Chalk and cheese, management-style. Brendan has the better, more settled squad, more talent, less disruption with the inevitable, never-ending rotation of players.

Each great servants of Liverpool Football Club.

There is a massive gulf in class. Rafa has won a lot. BR has won nothing.

Very happy we have BR though, he's a fine young manager.

Great stats for Rodgers.

That's league only, and mightily impressive considering Rafa took over the 4th best team around and Rodgers the 8th best team around.

The goals for is phenomenal.

Rodgers is doing well. He took over a team that finished 8th and has turned it into one of the most attacking in the league.

The GF and GD columns are the only major difference. Two very good managers but with very different philosophies.

Let's hope BR follows up the strong performance with Silverware

Just goes to show there are different ways to win matches. The difference in style between Rafa and BR is massive. The only thing we lack now under BR is some silverware and I really hope we can win something next season

Don't think Rafa had a season where he only had league to concentrate on. This season we have had no Europe and been knocked out of both cups early.

Still a great stat for BR to have

Kash

True, you have to frank the form and the quality of teams we met under Rafa was a lot higher with CL football.

Agreed ARE. Rafa did inherit a quality squad from Houlier and at the time didn't have a Man City or Spurs to compete with.

Debatable comment about the squad's quality. Yes Rafa got Gerrard, Carra, Hyypia, Riise and a few others. But he also got Traore, Biscan, Le Tallec, Diao, Baros, Cheyrou and many others I'd rather forget.

Bottom line is one was 4th, one was 8th.

Whether one squad was better than the other is irrelevant, because they were relative to their opponents.

Rafa inherited a better team than Rodgers did because they finished in a better league position in the previous years.

Are you dissing the mighty IGOR

It would be interesting to see what BR would do with the 08/09 squad

It brings me no joy, but if it helps me to make my point then yes.

Rafa inherited a poor squad that was a 60 point side - and then Owen, our only quality forward, jumped ship for a pittance.

but both managers have done fantastically well after inheriting an shambles.

Rafa wouldn't have won the CL, the FA Cup or attain our record point haul without Igor Biscan.

correct on the first one Knotty, the other two are nonsense

posted on 21/2/14

Well you say that but can you be sure? From what I've heard Igor was controlling the team with his mind.

his mammoth w7lly, not his mind
