Did anyone hear when the ITV commentator last night said "Townsend set the premier league alight in the first 7 games". I actually laughed. The bloke has one goal and no assists to show for the whole season. Yes he's been injured but one good game for England has turned him into a world class player in the media's eyes. His problem is that he has no variation to his game. It's either just cut in or shoot or hopelessly lump the ball in the box. Compare this to Sterling who realises excellently that if nothing is on play back or shield the ball. Every time I see Townsend his end product is giving a goal kick to the opposition or giving possession back.

Townsend is a typical english player.

he is quick

he is reasonably skilful

but he doesn't have enough going on upstairs to take him to the next level. his decision making is shambolic.

Townsend is so overrated. Another case of the English media being so desperate to hail something as great that they go overboard with the hype. I've heard of late developers but he's 22 and playing his first full season in the top flight. Walcott had scored a hat-trick for England and played well over 100 games for arsenal by then ffs.

He needs confidence. Look how he played for England. When he has confidence he is really good. He needs the crowd behind him like at QPR. Not on his back like your "fans".

I was at that hull game and atmosphere was pretty decent compared to the football we were playing...

seriously this mug tried to tell me last week that QPR are a big and famous club, almost as big as spurs

then i looked at their major honours and their only trophy is the league cup in 1967

i class qpr in the same bracket as palace fulham charlton leyton o and brentford - the small plucky london clubs who i have a soft spot for.

then you have west ham and millwall - the small london clubs who are caaants

Not really relevant to this thread. As for spurs, I dont mind spurs. But there are, in my experience, two types of spurs fans:
1, Delluded condescending spurs fans who talk down to clubs like us even though we arent much smaller (we are smaller I admit) - chronic and some other guys from this type of fans were in my qpr thread on another area of the forum.
2, Sensible spurs fans who realise they aren't all that and respect other clubs and make reasonable argument (genius greaves from this board seems like that to be fair to him)

I dont really agree with the attitude of some of those in group 1. I mean look at these posts about "plucky little qpr", it is a joke and he can't be serious
