Is it true his book is rubbish? I got it as a stocking filler and not read it yet, but sure I saw someone panning it on here. Shame if so because I loved him as a player

I'm going on the record to say that we should not be dishing out statues so frequently. The fact that DB10 and TH14 and Wenger are from the same Arsenal era shows that the rush for statues is just a cynical marketing ploy to stamp "tradition" on our new ground. While I may be of the age to only have known Wenger as the gaffer, at this rate, we'll be putting up Michael Jackson statues too.

What's wrong with them? Three of Arsenals' biggest legends plus a legendary manager, and one of Wenger after he retires. 5 statues, I see no problem. Recognises greatness.


As for Bergkamp, what a player he was. If he was playing now with the rate the strikers score at nowadays, his assist tally would be even more remarkable.

If there was no Bergkamp then Wenger would not have enjoyed that level of success.

Yeah it's a point Robbie, I'm hoping Titi & DB are exceptions with Wenger's next and that should be it for a while.

The only thing that concerns me is doing it so young in the legend's lives.... I mean who's to say DB doesn't team up with De Boer to take over Spurs in the future. With a statue outside our ground that would be unforgivable in my eyes

Sorry, but we overdo the statues stuff. At best, the likes of Chapman and Wenger could get statues. Maybe Adams who won titles in 3 different decades and was captain for donkey years. What next? Why not statues for Pires, Viera etc while they're at it.

Brilliant individuals in their own right, but the whole idea of a legend is his rarity. They should be so rare that you never run out of stands or stadiums to name after them.

I think after those 5 we need to wait 30/40 years before adding anyone else.
