He is getting on but could teach the younger ones a thing or two. He aint a bad chap either. Met him in Madrid and he said Hi to us as we were checking out the trophy room. Well I thought it was nice of him anyway, doubt he will remember it.
We lots of pacey young players buzzing around him I'd like to think he intelligence and movement will still see him get goals in the Premiership.
If and buts of course but we have officially bid. Salgado might be an influence on the deal also...?
I honestly believe that the premier will be to quick for him,as he is not breaking any pots at Shalke. Also I think he is 34 years old which is going some.I dont want to sound negative but I think this is another Pie in the sky stunt to keep the natives happy
He has rejected the move.
What a surprise. They are such muppets do they really think Raul would want to come to us? Why dont we get serious and spend around 10 million on a decent young player that would make the most sense I would like to get another striker and defender in ideally. No one wants to sign for someone who cant even pick them up from the airport cuz they are a banned as a drink driver. He is turning more into a joke day by day please tell me some good news soon!
That's a bit of an overreaction...
Venkys and Ventaro must think most Rovers fans are as thick as two short planks!I dont want to offend anyone on here but maybe they are right with myself included.Maradonna.Beckham,Roaldhino,Raul.I hope I have not missed anyone out maybe Cruiff,Beckenbauer,Pele,Er im sure there most be some old footballers knocking around.I really believe that Mr Pie is the only one on this forum/board who has got them bang to rights. This is not good enough they should put up or shut up,this is getting damned embarrassing day by day ,we are turning into the laughing stock of football.
Ok maybe you are right but no one wants to sign for him as they have no clue who he is. He gets on Sky Sports News all over the world for all the wrong reasons, it's hardly enticing for potential suitors is it? No big name players will sign for him.
But that's not entirely a bad thing. Like you said, I would much rather we up our bids for young, lesser known players to improve our squad that scouring the globe for ageing superstars.
JBA im getting more and more angry day by day at the double speak thats spouting out at Ewood. The whole football world are talking about us and the mad situations.Everyone is of the same conclusion doom and Gloom.I hope we can get back to basics with a sound manager and build a decent team up around all the younger players.
The whole football world are talking about us and the mad situations.

Why do you care what the rest of the world say about us,i don't give a flying flook .
Everyone is of the same conclusion doom and Gloom

No they are not.
You'll find it's only miserable gets on internet forums, who are probably miserable and moan their way through the rest of their sad lives.
Raul rejected move good to old and to big a wage
we need a centreback not a striker
Suprise, suprise, Raul turned the move down. The penny will drop eventually I am sure. Meanwhile it gets some column inches.
Was not to be, was certainly worth a bid.
Meanwhile it gets some column inches.

I find it odd how many Blackburn fans keep saying that, as though it helps your club. If it was that easy to get attention my pub team could say they're signing Raul as well.
It's not going to put you on the map; Europe aren't going to sit up and take notice of a few unfounded rumours.

Pie,don't confuse my opimism with your new favorite word-delusion.Of course, everyone has a right to be concerned.
I know as well as anyone what is wrong with the way our club is being run,but i prefer to try and sift through all the crap that's written about us.
In suffered as much as anyone at the match on Saturday but, despite the result,i left the ground looking forward to the Villa game fully expecting at least two of our defense back,Goodwillie starting, and our midfield looking much better.
If none of this happens, and any of it is Kean's fault, then i will be on here rightly giving him some stick.
But i won't rant at Kean for anything that does not happen on the pitch, the stuff that actually means something to me.And i will not blow a fuse at club related stories that we don't know if they are true or not,or the media's silly obession with all things chicken.
Would have liked to see Raul in blue and white halves - fantastic player in his time and one of my footballing heroes. The Prem might have been too fast for him but worth it I feel.
This article probably sums our situation up properly http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11676_7101009,00.html - we are trying to get players on the cheap/reasonable. Laudable but flawed in this world - we may need to pay over the odds to overcome some of the negatives that we have (inexperienced mgr, downward trajectory of results, inexperienced owners, non-city/Ldn location). However say that defeat was worth 3 points to us - what end of season position does that manifest given 3 extra points. A false economy. There have been players available - why are Stoke more attractive than us for example. Sunderland with o'Shea?
And another question - we have Samba and Nelsen out. Givet and Hanley only centre halves - why do we let Gunning go who is our only centre half cover? These types of decisions expose managerial shortcomings.
Our manager is not good enough - but he is cheap.
Pea, fair enough. But also don't assume I believe everything that is written, I don't even bother to read most of it.
It made my blood boil that Kean bemoaned a lack of bodies and hides behind the defender excuse. Ok so it's unfortunate that Givet was taken ill, but Nelon's injury was long term. We sold Jones very early and have not replaced him!
RtH's comment about the financial implications of 3 points may be worse than the 500k per placing, it may be the difference between staying up.
Ok, it's early in the season and there's a long way to go. However, Wolves are a benchmark for us (for the next year or two before we hunt City down) and these are games we can't afford to lose. Ewood was a fortress and as soon as teams come no longer expecting trouble then we're in the mire. Confidence plays a huge factor, if we fail to pick up points in the next couple of games we could be in the do do!
Nelon, Pie? Was considering the financial implications for the difference on paying an extra million now to get players in that can do a job now. Relegation is a real possibility this year but it shouldn't be. All this talk about bids in and expectations masks that we have disposed of more talent than we have brought in. We still have time to put it right but I don't have confidence that we have the game plan to make it there.
I am proud that as a club, we gave a chance to Paul Ince - he had served an apprenticeship and been relatively successful. Upon failure the club management enacted a plan to save the club's status by disposing of Ince and bringing Allardyce in. They were able to act in the club's best interests. It hurt us financially but mgt and the manager were able to adapt.
Can nwe say the same now. I want Kean/Venkys to do well but they are both experienced and don't appear to have the same plan/guide for the future. Is Kean picking his team or being told what type of result to obtain/deploy? Why change so much so soon when a mixed bag of tactics proved most successful?
The new report I have heard is that Shalke are blocking a move, not that Raul has turned down a move, although he may still do that.
I know it's against the grain to defend a neighbour, but why can't Raul join you? Similar size to us, and we where good enough for Fernando Hierro, Djorkaeff, JJ etc...
People forget Salgado was a very well respected player at Madrid, so why not Raul? Course it will cost, they always do... But the price of that kind of experience is always welcome to a squad surly?
Anyway, just my opinion.
Pie, SKL and OOJW just want to officially announce that I'm annoyed at Steve Kean
why, did he refuse to swallow last night?
No, he always swallows for mcteeth.
I'm just a bit hacked off with the transfer window.
