Oxlade Chamberlain

Ox is our biggest hope from now till end of season. Bit strange considering he is the youngest player (after Serge) in the first team.

I think young Serge could do a job for us as well

This Arsenal side clearly needs some players like Theo and Ox to start every game, it's the only way our side has any good shape.

In summer we need to go on a spending spree to get one or two world class players that can make a similar sort of impact. An attacking trio of, say, Ozil, Theo and Griezmann playing off a mobile, world class forward would be great for us.

Where i do agree that Griezmann would be a good shout do we really think he would hit the ground running? I'd rather take another punt of Vela if the reported £3.7 million buy back clause is true

Griezmann is different gravy to Vela, tbh.

People will say that we should give Wenger a chance to spend this summer. Performances like yesterday make me think: Fack that, how many summers has that been said for?

The problem we seem to be facing in the summer is that we have to replace good players rather than strengthen.
Fabianski and Viviano are likely to go so we need a keeper.
Sagna looks set to leave, so we need a right back.
Vermaelen is likely to be off so we need a CB.
We already need a CB anyway.

So straight away we need 4 players without improving the squad.

Not sure how much business we will do in one summer but you wouldn't expect that many in.

I am starting to come round to the idea that Wenger is past it but then again if he beats Chelsea and City he will be a hero again and we are right in with a shout of the title again...It ain't over till it's over as they say.

What we need is most probably what we will get. Nobody outstanding but there to do a job. Sebastien Corchia at Sochaux (granted i heard of him on FM14) is getting a bit of recognition of late.

Agree with Dj, can't see six players in the summer.

posted on 2/3/14

So if all the players that dj listed will leave, realistically we need...

A GK
Two centre backs
A right back
A striker, or maybe two because of Bendtner, especially since we might sell Joel Campbell
One or two good wingers
A defensive midfielder

Nice, a potential of ten players needed so it looks like next season will be a rebuilding job too, especially if Wenger goes, meaning another transitional season looks set to commence.

That adds to the madness of not buying in January.

WE ARE ROYALLY SCREWED

posted on 2/3/14

Get Pep in and tell him to take a couple of Munich players with him

posted on 2/3/14

We should have done the business in January whilst the likes of Sagna and Vermaelen are still here, it's gonna be even harder to have a go for the title next season without them, our rivals will strengthen, and it was such a good opportunity considering our league position in January.

So it is important to keep Sagna just offer him 100k. Otherwise we are back to square one, sell our best players and buy lesser replacements. Even if there's anyone on Sagna's level out there, it's not adding numbers to the squad. Madness, can't see anything changing for next season. We may get in a quality striker, but then defensively we will be short again.
It keeps going around in cricles.

TV, is under contract, so we are not obliged to sell; but if Sagna leaves we would have to buy a right back and another CB.
With or without Arsene, the clearing out of deadwood that commenced last summer should continue. NB52, Park, Diaby, one of either Podolski or Giroud should be shipped out. In the same vein bringing in a DM with presence would logically indicate either Flamini or Arteta should make way.
Wenger ineptitude in the summer and jan transfer windows has created this rather unbalanced squad of a myriad little technical midfielders and slow lumpy forwards.
A massive rebuilding job will be required at the close season.

The likes of Lescott will be a freebie and there are some right backs and keepers out there that would not break the bank.
I would forgo the signing of Draxler and get Greizman and Shakiri for the same amount. Vela through the middle would suit how we play and obviously has more pace than Giroud. Added to that we could give Poldi one full season down the middle should we make the above signings as he could match Giroud strength but once again be somewhat more pacey in our counter attacks.

Yes we need a few players but we bought in 4 this summer and after the 8-2 debacle we brought in quite a few.

Podolski played a lot worse than Giroud yesterday, IMO. He just goes missing everytime, very disappointing.

posted on 2/3/14

And we bought in 4 this summer, yes... after offloading, what, like, 12?

posted on 2/3/14

We won't win anything next season unless we bring in 2/3 class attacking players.

2 strikers and a winger.

I would like us to go back to playing exciting football. This defensive crap is boring and isn't getting us results anyway.

What is the point?

I agree we did not do enough Penguin but it is not impossible that we could have a decent turnaround in numbers.

I agree we will likely get Morata and to be frank goal scoring is not our issue but a balanced squad of depth is.

posted on 2/3/14

In 11/12 we signed about 8 players, that's pretty much the minimum of what we need now.

posted on 2/3/14

I agree Penguin.
GK - Casillas /Reina (experienced back up)
RB -
CB - Lescott as freebie and add experience
CM/DM
LW - Greizman & Shakiri
ST Morata (Not top of the wishlist but likely choice)
