I don't think it is Sturridge. I have heard a story about someone stood next to him at a bar whilst he was telling his mate that he was going to have a night off nailing birds. Cant remember if it was a mate that told me, or someone on here?

My tip would be Adam Lallana. But at the end of the day my respect can only go out to whoever decides to come-out.
From the current England squad, I would think it'd be Chris Smalling coming out. He's always seemed quite camp to me in interviews:

It happens quite a lot to be fair.
The paper get the scoop on a celebrity, then offer them the chance to do an exclusive reveal with them, or they will run the story anyway. I suppose it must sell more papers if they can get the celebrity to open up about the story, but if not, they still sell plenty by breaking the exclusive story.
It is blackmail I suppose, but the newspaper will argue that they are giving the celebrity the opportunity to put their side of the story across.
