He had a good game, if only he was on the pitch against Bayern when Özil got brought down.
Fantastic from the spot. Don't think he's ever missed a pen for us.
I loved how passionate he was today too! I know he was playing his old club, but he showed a real passion to win that game, battled really hard!
Very impressed, his best game for a while
I can see why he is our designated penalty taker.
I can only remember him missing against Fulham in the 3-3 last season (with the last kick of the game).
It is very important to have a consistent penalty taker as missing penalties can be devastating in terms of affecting chances at success.
Don't think he's ever missed a pen for us.
He missed against Fulham (last season I think).
Not sure about Arteta...He lacks pace.
He is experienced and took his pens with coolness.
Oh yeah forgot about that Fulham miss. Not bad as a leader and seems to be one of the most respected llayers at the club but overall I still prefer Flamini
If that numptey Giroud had cost us with his idiotic actions, I think I'd smash my computer.
Arteta did good but many times today in attack he passed backwards rather than the obvious forward choice. It's quite clear him and Flamini are going to be nothing other than squad players next season.
I was going to write something about Arteta, but basically I enjoyed seeing him play the box to box role that we haven't seen from him since the 11-12 season. He lost the ball frustratingly a couple of times, but he pressed well and generally had a good game.
When he plays with Flamini, Arteta has to be the further forward of the two as he is the much better footballer.
If that numptey Giroud had cost us with his idiotic actions, I think I'd smash my computer.

Exactly. That'd be the same Giroud that came off the bench to score two goals today? Granted, he doesn't always have the best of games, but it's only fair to acknowledge it when he plays well like he did today.
At least get off girouds back today after scoring 2 goals!
He's got 18 goals 8 assists this season I think, not a completely awful record. I know he's not great all the time, but the way some of our fans talk is as if he's got like 3 goals all season. Like soldado.
Did arteta celebrate against his old team?
Everton fans are really angry that he celebrated!
The Giroud bum bashers are out in their droves again. The 2 goals he scored are irrelevant to the topic being discussed. His encroaching led to a goal being ruled out and if not for Arteta being very competent from the spot, we could all be talking about another trophiless season on the horizon. The 2 goals he scored were AFTER Arteta's penalty, we would not have had the space and threat on the break that we had if Everton were not chasing the game, which they might not have been if Arteta missed the 2nd penalty. Think about that before you start licking Giroud's bollócks for scoring 2 late tap ins.

---------------------
It is a poor record when you consider that he has £100m midfield behind him. The best midfield in England and by far the most expensive.
Caz - £18m
Ozil - £42m
Walcott - £30m
Arteta - £10m (cost)
Ramsey - £25m.
Wilshere - £20m.
Oxlade - £15m
Flamini - £2m
by far the most expensive.
========
Yeah, that is far more expensive than Yaya, Fernandinho, Silva etc at City
it's not a poor record in any context, just not world class.
and why did we pay 20m for a 9 year old
Yeah, that is far more expensive than Yaya, Fernandinho, Silva etc at City
--------------
It is. My estimates for those values are very conservative.
It isn't the most expensive, we didn't pay for Wilshere, paid nothing close to that for Ramsey or Walcott.
You cannot just chuck numbers behind a pound sign and declare players expensive.
we didn't pay for Wilshere, paid nothing close to that for Ramsey or Walcott.
--------------------
Thats their present values in my opinion as per their development. In fact I remember Wenger suggesting earlier in the season that Ramsey is £40m in todays market. This is his justification for his pay rise. I thought that value was a tad optimistic.
But when you consider that Man City are willing to pay £30m+ for Barkley I think I am on the low side.
Each club carries out internal valuations of players complied for Bank asset determination. So its not a pointless exercise and I haven't picked out some pie in the sky figures.
Anyway values are irrelevant, Giroud has not scored as many as we'd like with the quality of players we've got in midfield.
I haven't picked out some pie in the sky figures.

Well you have, and anyway Citys would still be more...
Yaya £250m
David Silva £168m
Fernandinho £145m
Jesus Navas £139.275m
Jack Rodwell £35m
See, Citys is way more expensive than ours.
In fact even Norwich
Hoolahan £75m
Snodgrass £86m
Tettey £3000m
are more expensive than ours.
Anyway values are irrelevant, Giroud has not scored as many as we'd like with the quality of players we've got in midfield.
----------------------
Absolutely. I only put down est. values to highlight the fact that sometimes we underestimate the key strengths of the team.

And are they out performing the Arsenal midfield?
