What a refreshing change Matt!! You can tell from my username these incidents are a major bug bear for me. It means players dare not tackle in the box any more.

Attackers are looking for and anticipating ANY contact so they throw themselves in the floor

Surprising the ref didn't book him then?..

You're right Chris Martin should take notice

Stay on your feet, you're 10 yds from goal, why not try and shoot and score a goal? Now there's a thought

Just because 'contact' is made, it doesn't make it a 'foul'. That is the way the FA and refs need to interpret it as these players, Martin being as bad as any, just fall at the slightest of touches.

a true sportsman wouldnt have dived in the first place

Good point Mex. Martin was sent off for falling over, not for simulating, it was a genuine fall althoough I admit in the past he has gained penalties by falling over too easily. It usbn't really cheating though if we do ot as we can't convert penalties anyway.

He wanted to save 'face' because he knew his dive looked silly. In other words he probably isn't a true sportsman

and we all know had his team been 2-0 down he'd have jumped up and took it himself

I actually visibly cringe when I watch footballers pirouette in the air several times grab their (often the wrong) ankle in mock agony, triple roll across the turf, and writhe around like they're giving birth to a bowling ball out of their 'arris. Man up, the f 'kin lot of you!

Actually the title on the BBC site is unfair to the player as he did not try to clam a penalty he just genuinely stubbed his toe as he ran forward and by the time he'd regained his feet the ref was already pointing at the spot

Ref should have booked him for disputing the decison in my opinion. Always respect the officials and their decisions, unless its Baz and his Happy Flag of course.
