Problem is that that mindset is not translating into an actual preferred on-pitch system that seems to regularly work.

I think he talks to much.
This could work or totally backfire.
We will see.

Not sure what others think of Tim here but I sure hope so!

To be honest, If he was a tactical genius that had won things and actually got all his badges then I would say good on him.

However its a ballsy call by him. Fair play. Let him go down shooting.

I think he's gone in the summer too. He can say what he likes now and ruffle some feathers + saying i'm planning for next season makes him seem less of a caretaker. I think this 5/6 months or so he's had in charge will bag him a job in the championship after he leaves in the summer.

I think the problem with the Sherwood appointment is that we should have brought in an experienced No.2 When i look to the bench and see hims and his mate Sir Les chillin in the dugout like lads at a free corporate football meal. Doesn't inspire me with confidence and that definitely won't inspire foreign players

yeah he'll probably be gone, but fack it boys our players deserve a rollicking this season. Been saying for months they're a crowd of lazy caants

"The guy hasn't got a clue"

I'd say engineering a 1m quid payout for 6 months work is far from clueless. The QPR job might be open for him in the summer too.

I really think Sherwood is emphasising this tough image to cover up his own failings and to win support from the fans who are rightfully irritated by recent performances. Its very easy for him to say its not his fault and to simply blame it on the lack of effort from the players.

I agree that more desire would be nice, but the approach he is taking is outdated, ineffective and the sign of a poor man manager.

"can any of our managers do anything to make you lot happy?!"

Being a dour Yorkshireman for starters would make me happy.

This

He's turning into Harry mk2.. the only reason he got away with it was because we were playing good football (Bale, VDV & Modric helped a bit there) and he had the experience to back it up.

Tim's just digging himself an ever-bigger hole to jump into.

He can't say that players are playing for their future, he is integral to the decision making process and then go on to say he's not sure if he'll be here as players will have no fear of him & his power to alter their careers.

SO whether he is here or not next season, whether he knows he will be or wont be, whether he knows whether he'll get Baldini's job or whatever, he has to play the "of course I'll be around next season and beyond" card otherwise players will not play for him.

See what happened when Sir Alex said he would retired, the first time around, all the players went off the boil and they won sweet FA...so if players act like that with that sort of manager then they would not think twice about going through the motions with Tim in charge.

IMO the team needed shaking up before this massive week.

If he had just moaned about the ref, the penalty the red card then our boys would have ready made excuses to meander along through the next few games.

With his outburst, he has given them nowhere to go, they have no excuses and they now know it. They have to leave it all out there on the pitch otherwise they will be in the firing line.

Many of our team have been together for a long while, as a group, a unit, they will collectively be hurting and have a determination to improve matters...sometime you really need this sort of shake up to wake players up from going through the motions - sure it can go both ways but I expect to see a real positive reaction, players really playing for each other, total determination & concentration...hopefully it will not spill into too much aggression as no doubt Benfica will be well versed in conning refs.

It is a test for the players...the challenge has been laid down by Sherwood and it will be a watershed moment for a number of them...do they have what it takes, mentality-wise, to cut it?

It's not that I don't like Tim but he gives me zero confidence, he talks so much and has so little experience it's just embarrassing.

In my opinion he should get his head down and get us winning, he can mouth off when he's earned it.

I think he's been told he's going in the summer and he is using the rest of the season as an 'audition' for another job.

our games in the next few weeks will show whether his words have had the desired effect, and whether it is the right thing to do.

It will go one of 2 ways, players will either sulk and nothing will change / things get worse OR they will have pride in what they do and show improvement.

Personally I am not sure that the thrashing at CFC merited such strong words and a .ot of players did give their all. It was mainly individual errors by Vertonghen & Walker, coupled with the red car and injuries forcing Sandro to CB that lead to the whupping. I expect some players will take some of the criticism to heart, as they really put a shift in.
