Spurtle, that may be. But I think the outcome of Spurs' cup runs this season would still have been the same.

Don't agree at all. We win every cup game this season under AVB. Suddenly Sherwood comes in and loses his first 3 (2 of those against West Ham and Dnipro)

It was clear AVB had a focus in the cup competitions, by our impressive record. They might not be the best teams in the world, but we have played in the Europa and its previous equivalent for ages against teams like this and have always had problems with them here and there.
-----------------------------------------------------
And who are the teams that have knocked you out of the cups under AVB? It's all about the quality of opposition. Your Europa group this season even by Europa standards was weaker than I've ever seen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's no weaker than it normally is for Spurs. Two seasons ago we had Shamrock rovers in our group and even lost to them one of the games.
At the time AVB got sacked he had won 3 games in his last 4 at Tottenham. Third highest win percentage for any Tottenham manager.
I think you overrate AVB in cup competitions.
Not to say that Sherwood is a good manager, he's clearly not, Spurs just aren't very good and AVB or Sherwood your cup competitions were likely yo end in failure - Arsenal and Benfica are quality teams and West Ham have beaten you already this season.
Darren
I'm not saying he would have won us a treble or anything like that, but I had confidence in him to get us far in at least one of them, and unlike Timothy at least has experience in actually winning cups before as a manager.
we were a lot more organised under AVB. It was boring to watch at times but at least we had a game plan
WTF was the game plan today lump it to Ade ala Stoke. We deserve to be out of this competition after that display. There was no cohesion to our play, nothing at all throughout the entire 90. We bragged a goal from a set piece but didn't threaten Benfica at all on our home patch.
I like Tim as a character but he is seriously out of his depth right now
Fair enough, I wouldn't have confidence in AVB to get you past Arsenal and Benfica.
West Ham yeah, but then City would have knocked you out anyway.

And what's with the management of Soldado? He finally bags a goal again; relief from everyone, his confidence must be up. Oh look he hasn't started a game since.
Spurtle
I was in disbelief when I saw Soldado on the bench. The guy had finally got some confidence back and he is on the bench and Kane is starting instead of him...I just dont understand
Spurtle,
i think he prefer's Ade in a 1 up top system like we played against Chelsea, and so would i. Tonight however it should have been full force on display, and that does not include Kane
Point being Sherwood has played much more difficult cup opposition.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
What like west ham who were playing total crap at the time? Yeah right
AVB got past Benfica countless times with Porto. Bad move by Levy getting rid of him especially with no alternative lined up. AVB is a classy manager. Will probably end up at another big team or
Porto again and come back to knock Chelsea
Or Spurs out of Europe.
