3 - 0 Prediction Time....

I remember Matt Oakley saying that we "took our foot off the gas" as promotion from League 1 came into view - although we were able to get moving again when needed. But hopefully this team will have bigger things in mind: If I was a player, I'd be eyeing the 100-point mark right now. Not so much having it in mind all day every day, but just as a little motivation to keep going, to not be concerned about the league table as such and just focus on what the team can achieve. We also have a number players trying to make their impression before the end of the season in order to play a big part for us in the Premiership next season, so these are all still exciting times for them.

All that aside, Blackpool need this fixture like a hole in the head. They picked up a valuable 3 points against Millwall midweek, but they sounded rather fortunate. 3-0 does sound reasonably likely for this fixture, and I'd be delighted with it.

Just out of interest I have been looking at where we were after 34 games the last two times we have managed to get promoted.

When we got promoted from League 1:
We had 74 points after 34 games. We managed to claim another 22 points (DWLWDLDWWWDW) and finish on 96 points, but were mathematically promoted after 44 games.

When we last got promoted to the Premier League:
We had 69 points after 34 games. We managed to claim another 23 points (DDWWWWWDWLDD) and finish on 92 points, but were mathematically promoted after 43 games.

This season we have 77 points after 34 games.

I refuse to curse us by being optimistic about the result of our next game. So I’m predicting a draw secured by a late equaliser from Gary Taylor Fletcher.

I cant see anything other than a City win. This worries me. This season has gone far too well and surely somewhere there will be a sting in the tail.

4-0 City.

Call me a hot-headed fool but I'm going for a 5-0 victory. Hat-trick for Vards, one for Nuge and, when Vards is subbed, one for Woody.

The open-topped bus procession is nigh.

I'm going for 2-0 but like Joby, I don't want to curse it so will change my prediction to a 0-1 loss.

Not only have the last 3 games ended 3-0, vardy has scored first in all of them! Odds of 20/1 to happen tomorrow, surely worth a bet- if you had backed it for the last 3 games in a treble..... £1 would have paid you back around £9000

Steady the Buffs. I plan to be there, which in the past has often been the kiss of death.

On the contrary, apart from the Real Madrid friendly, I've yet to see City beaten at the new stadium. So perhaps I ought to venture out.

You certainly should, downsouf. In fact we ought to club together to pay you to attend all remaining home fixtures.

"BUT, this season apart, things rarely go according to plan in LE2-land and we are all acutely aware of our beloved team's propensity to implode and lose in the most unlikely of circumstances. Surely it is only a matter of time before our self-confidence becomes "over-confidence and we have a proper go at 'ballsing' this whole promotion lark up. It just wouldn't be City if we coast comfortably to the shore and embark on the good ship "Premier League" without at least suffering a few may-day calls."

I know what you mean, being a city fan it's hard to shake that feeling, but there is no sign of any such implosion this year. The Watford and forest draws for example, leeds away, bournmouth away, turning losses into draws and draws into wins, also overcoming our charlton hoodoo.

Last year we started to struggle to win games just before the collapse. This year we look to be getting stronger and seem to be in a determined groove that will see us through. There maybe a hiccup along the way but the squad appears confident enough to deal with it if it comes.

I think there are one or two on here who would prefer to club me, Malling.

Just heard on the radio that today (Mar 15) is the Ides of March- as in "beware the Ides of March"....

I believe the opposition should be given full respect so I'm not into 3-0 predictions.

However we do seem to be getting better and more confident rather than seeing nerves set in.

I think Nige is striving to keep the lads feet firmly anchored on terra firma. No doubt reminding them of the heartache that can await anybody who ends up in the playoffs, which they know only too well from last season.

I just hope we maintain our current performance level. If so we should be OK.
