Definitely. This is getting rather embarrassing now. I also wonder whether strikers are going to want to come now when they know they're going to be the 3rd, 4th, 5th choice of Sven's after all these failed bids for other strikers.
What was the bid 2.5 + add ons to make 3mil
We know Everton would not accept. My guess that Beckford, Keene and Long were all designed to put pressure on Bristol to let Maynard go.
Will it work, time will tell, but Beckford would be a good buy if Everton were that desperate and if Beckford were willing to drop a division - rember he can be very tempremental
I do agree to apoint but it is a little unfair that people think we lost out on players such as Miller, Derbyshire and CMS just because some papers decided to print incorrect details.
Maybe we have set our sights too high. You can't blame Long for choosing the prem and Keane clearly had no intention of dropping to this league.
Other than that we have made sizable bids for three others which their clubs have rejected.
Admitedlly it doesn't help with all our dealings being made public but I for one would prefer to be 'in the loop' rather than hear nothing.
Sven does not comment we will be linked to every striker who can tie his own bootlaces.
So we cannot avoid the speculation for me the key factors are.
1. NO premiership striker is going to sign full time for us if there is even a1% chance of him staying in the prem.
2. Any striker in the championship who can will sign for a premiership team if he can.
3. As last Saturday showed a striker cming to LCFC and any of so called top clubs in our division will be taking a big gamble if hes coming for premiership football.
4. Most important of all we cant think we are that special that every one we want, would want to come to leicester with or without the Sven factor
Bored - No, but a little embarrassed and concerned - Yes. It's not so much that it's bad to have a long list of strikers to target, or even that the list of strikers /not/ coming to us is increasing. However, any striker we go for now will know that they were quite a way down the list and won't be so 'inspired' to come here. (I doubt players always go with their heads when deciding on a club.)
Bored - no. Embarrassed or concerned - no.
We definitely need a good striker but I think a waiting game is being played here, the pressure coming on clubs hanging on to players as the end of the transfer window draws nearer. Also there may be a plan B to get a quality striker on loan after the end of the month.
Foxy Nun
You are right now fabricarse has gone. The premiership striker merry go round will spin like a top and i am sure Sven has know at least one of the targets won't come off till then
I can't help but wonder how many of these players we genuinely want.
We pulled out of the CMS deal, not the other way round. We decided we didn't want him.
I don't think Sven really wanted Miller, as no disrespect but why would he choose our red rivals over us?
Keane - I dont think Sven really wanted/thought he'd come.
Maynard - We could have had him weeks ago if we really wanted - Yes Bristol City are playing hardball, but if we really wanted him, we could offer them £7 mill + - No way they'd turn it down.
With our financial muscle, we could sign players like CMS, Maynard all day long - I can't help but think it's all a smokescreen, for a much bigger, better signing.
I hope I'm right with my last paragraph anyway!!
Not sure that there is a great deal we can do regarding the hype surrounding our club at the moment.
Yes our new owners are investing heavily in many aspects of the club at the moment and yes Sven has said he is looking for an out and out striker.
Put those two elements together = LCFC with money to spend and all of the journalists whether they be good, bad or indifferent can very quickly fill some column space linking anybody and everybody with us.
I firmly believe this is what is happening which can't be helping us in achieving Sven's ultimate objective of getting someone to fill the role he has clearly identified we need.
Frustrating for everyone - the Club, the fans, the potential targets and don't forget the likes of Howard & Waggy who at this moment in time do not know whether they are sticking or twisting!!
Not, bored just frustrated.
I know some will disagree with me but the Yak should have been signed by now then there wouldn't have been this circus around signing a striker now.
As for a striker not wanting to come here as SGE's 3rd or 4th choice, I personaly think that could work in our favour as they'll want to prove a point to the management and the fans. It could also have the same effect on Waggy 2 be fair!

I think you'll find its speculative journalism and ourselves, the fans, that are creating the circus.

Bit arrogant IMO
Sven said on TV. He was not really Interested in Miller.
I think a lot of it is paper talk. Just have to wait and see what happens.
Arrogant it is, but in this day and age, I'm not wrong am I?
You can't tell me that CMS opted for Brighton over us? We turned him down.
If we wanted to, we could offer Maynard £25k a week, and Bristol City a transfer fee of £8mill.
Can you see either party turning that down?
That was what I meant.
