Pochettino looks a quality manager. Doesn't have the CV to back it up, but what he's done to Southampton is nothing short of amazing.

You can do a lot worse than appoint him.

You can do a lot worse than Sheet on yer face. But that doesn't mean you want it!

Apologies but I hate that saying ' You could do a lot worse....' Especially when we spend millions on managers.

Fair enough, but who would you have in charge? If you're thinking about Klopp kind of quality, you're barking. Hate to break it to you, but you're not as big a club as you'd like to think. A young tactically astute manager like Pochettino is pretty much exactly what you need.

Lion-el,

these are my criteria for a manger If we want to sign foreign players

Over the Age of 40
Multi-lingual (English included please)
Can work with a DoF (its the modern way)
Have won a league or a cup (optional)
Disciplined
Ready to Start work June 1
Has an experienced No.2 (over 50 and well travelled in sports and league management)
Has BUPA insurance because our medical team are carp!

That was AVB, apart from the age, although i'm not sure what age has to do with anything if the manager is experienced enough to win a trophy.

Pochettino is definitely doing something right.. not sure if he as "amazing" as Serial says but he's certainly got Southampton playing well. That said with their squad their league position is about right, he's not worked miracles.

The way I see it we need an established, experienced manager that will come in a be up and running by the start of the season. Ideally someone like Pochettino or de Boer would be a sound long-term option but they're just not going to get the time.

A manager like Van Gaal or Magath would suit our current set-up better imo.

If Sherwood is sacked. Surely we need somebody with a track record better than his.

If every club applied this principle, Milan would never have appointed Sacchi, Porto wouldn't have chosen Mourinho and Barça wouldn't have gone for Guardiola.

Sometimes you have to be much more forward-thinking when you appoint a manager.

We tried that. Levy sacked him at the first sign of trouble

Well there's your problem. Not the managers, but the bloke who appoints them and doesn't give them time. Levy.
