If Sagna's still here I wouldn't be against it but that's looking unlikely. A new look defence could set us backwards
Hi mate, am I missing something? So if Sagna leaves and Jenks leaves we will have no RB?
In a perfect world it would seem a great idea.
However, I don't see how we can lose Sagna and Jenkinson in the same summer. Bringing in new players is never without risk, so not to have Jenkinson as cover seems a bad idea.
Hector Bellerin could possibly step us as cover, but if he was needed for long periods his inexperience would be a massive worry.
Basically it would depend on who we sign. if we get a right back AND a player who can play CB/RB then I would be happy to let CJ go.
The story is probably BS anyway.
If we've got two other right backs maybe. Otherwise no.
Id stop supporting them if this donkey turns up.

But you're hapy with the likes of Obertan and Gosling?

This is what bothers me. I agree with you entirely! As much as I think Sagna's (alleged) demands for a contract-extension are at the very least 'steep'!
He's a very important player in the squad and what's more, he's very versatile along the backline.
If he does leave this summer, it will very likely be the case that the club will have to invest in a couple of players to compensate for him leaving.

Don't know why you bother supporting them in the first place lol
Thing is even if we do get a top replacement for sagna defenders need time to gel and develop an understanding. This season our defence is one of the reasons we've done well but if one of Mert or Kos get a long term injury we could end up with
NewRB__Kos/Mert___NewCB___Gibbs
And it could easily end up like a few years ago where on paper we had a good defence but they don't work as a unit

b b b b but...he can cross
We could end up with that anyway if Sagna AND Kos/Per get injured.
No point holding back on evolution through fear of injuries.
Hopefully Sagna can stay but seems highly unlikely at this stage. If he does stay I wouldn't mind Jenks going out on loan. However if Sagna leaves we will need to bring in an established right back as Jenks not ready yet. So either way wouldn't mind Jenks on loan with option to recall

I do agree with this.
I rate Sagna as a rightback. I know most Gooners and neutral fans feel the same, although there are some detractors and that's fair enough.
But the versatility (as ell as experience) that Sagna offers mean he's a bit of a rarity.
Debuchy to Arsenal with a Jenkinson loan offer as a sweetner?

Debuchy is really highly rated isn't he? I think he's alright, although I'm not quite as sold on the guy as some people seem to be. He can be seriously rash in challenges!
Debuchy > sagna as deschamps agrees.
Hmmm Debuchys not too bad and has PL experience but I'd prefer Piszcek or Coleman.
Would anyone want Jerome Boateng as TVs replacement? Can play both CB and RB to a decent standard and adds to the German clan

Yeah definitely. But I don't think he'd be being a squad utility player, of sorts..?
