With the excellent records subcontinent teams have at the oval vs england.... If india dont win this, then what can you say.......apart from G'jal....
I think the indians are upbeat and they are sniffing...... I fancy tendulkar to smash the long awaited 100.
"So what if they haven't scored 300 in 6 innings and struggle to take 10 wickets in an innings, let alone 20 wickets in a match, they are world class and they will hit back."
So what?
You have to take 20 wickets to win a test (also scoring runs helps too)
I would be very surprised if India don't salvage a draw as it is a very flat wicket! (India will feel right at home)

Neon, in a kind of perverse way, this is probably the best thing that could have happened to Indian cricket.
You really need to be bringing through some fresh blood, and it also has highlighted the perils of playing IPL over test series preparation.
As much as I like seeing England win well, you want it to be a good fight, not a belly tickling.
No I am not hoping that.I am hoping that England win.
But with Anderson injured and Finn who although extremely talented has a tendency to leak runs lokely to replace him and with walking wicket by the name of Bopara batting at 6 for us India will have a sniff. If Ishant hits the right line and length just the way he did in the 2nd inns at Lord's and 1st inns at TB then he will be a real handful. And if you get early wickets then I dont think our lower order will be able to rescue us again.
As far as your batting is concerned they WILL come good.
Barring Sehwag,I expect all the others to do well.
I am not convinced that Sehwag is the right man to open in English conditions. He should open in the subcontinent but outside the subcontinent I think he should bat at 5 because he doesnt have the technique to deal with the moving ball. His averages in NZ,SA,England are very ordinary. He would be great at 5 though taking the attack to the opposition spinners.
Gambhir on the other hand is a world class opener IMO.I would be shocked if he doesnt come good at The Oval.He is too good a player to miss out again.
Sachin,Dravid,Laxman,Kohli and MSD will also come good IMO.
Strauss says he's now pretty confident that Anderson will play at the Oval. Fingers crossed he does as i think this will be a tough game to end the series.
Not sure what makes you think the India bowlers will suddenly be able to take 20 wickets. If they can't do it on green and lively pitches, why will they be able to on a flat deck?
Our batting is prone to at least one collapse in a series.Remember Perth 2010,Jo burg 2010,Headingely 2009,Oval 2010.
In all those collapses, the opposition had good bowlers capable of taking 20 wickets.
Even when India got England to 124-8 at TB, they were not good enough to take advantage of the situation.
Lords 2011 2nd dig, Trent Bridge 2011 1st dig.

I am indeed
It's possible that India recover but hard to see them actually win the game . Why ? Simple, up to now England haven't just been winning, the last 2 matches have been a massacre, it has been like men against boys.
Neon,
Dont understand what the issue is mate... India have a very good chance to claw back abit of pride... the pitch should suit... The OP is merely stating that whilst many indians might "hope" for a victory, he "expects" victory for India......
Stop throwing all your toys outa your pram whenever some makes a comment about india.... do yourself some justice!!
