Trish, some of it is banter and there's nothing wrong with that. I think its rare that it turns nasty like it has on other boards
On the other hand, when people push buttons to get a response, I'm afraid you will usually see one.
Well said Trish, how some excellent articles are high-jacked is criminal and why I tend to avoid making much comment at all. My late Dad was bullied on these boards for being too nice to his fellow man and in the end gave up the ghost. Banter is one thing, abuse is another.
Inilesta I don't condone bullying of any kind, but where do you draw the line? What examples are there of serious bullying on this forum, I haven't seen any
I had a to do with TB a couple of days ago when he dragged up a post I made a while back. But I didnt feel bullied, It was banter for me and I was going to fight my corner. I can't remember anything too personal being said on these boards.
You will always get major disagreements on a football forums and fall outs. If it's too much to handle then 606 isn't for you
Inilesta, I'm sorry to hear that. What username did your dad go by?
I guess we could continue towards the Yeovil board where there has been 3 threads since December?
Surely no worse or anything like this time last season either?
Inilesta I should have mentioned that I'm sorry to hear about your late dad's experience. I'm not sure if you are saying that his experience with bullying was connected to his death, if that's the case then that is devestating. If not then bullying is not acceptable in any form, it's just I haven't seen too many examples of that here.
Cheers DM but honestly don't want to revisit, it's almost 2 years now anyway. What's past is past and Blackstarr is right that what might be banter to someone is abuse to someone else and maybe what I would call bullying is NOT to someone else. These boards have very good articles from time to time and maybe just reading them should be as far as I go. Here's to promotion and a season we should never forget.
School Playground?
Surely not.
Anyway it was Nev that started it .....
We are all big enough and old enough to accept inevitable banter and it should never go further than that. Bullying of any form will not be tolerated, though I agree with Blackstarr in that I dont recall ever reading anything over the top.
Lets get back to enjoying this incredible season and make the most of these good times while it lasts
Have a great weekend guys
I agree that bullying shouldn't be tolerated, although I wasn't actually saying anyone was being bullied or doing any bullying.
Lets jus enjoy the remainder of the season and get back to the great debates that used to happen!
Trish, I think the main problem with football forums is that when the team is playing well and everyone is happy with life, there is nothing to talk about other than team selection. I would suspect about 75% of the average football forum is made up purely of moaning fans moaning about the manager, players, chairman, etc. It is far harder to create debate when everything is going well because the only things to debate are technical issues. Which makes fall-outs to do with debates from 2 years ago more likely as people feel the need to argue, and as they can't argue about the present, argue about the past instead, or with fans from other teams.
Or something like that
Trish,
I actually think you’ve authored a very good article there. I’ve almost got visions of you as a Betty Boothroyd type character bringing a lot of (mostly) men to order.
I actually agree with Foxello here (although saying that may make me reach for some rosary beads and say a few Hail Mary’s) in that we are a bit short of debating topics at the moment.
I can only think of:
Should Nigel grow his hair long?
Does Jamie Vardy really like to party?
Is Jason Bourne a cure for insomnia?
I can only envisage 2 scenarios that will change this:
1. We collapse catastrophically and fail to get promoted
2. We secure promotion and can start talking about formations, strategies, personnel and tactics for the Premier League (nobody wants to jinx that at the moment)
Being honest when we were doing badly, the arguments and bickering was far worse. I don't know what the great debates were that some are referring to, I just remember constant arguments on this forum between the pro and anti Pearson brigade
The anti Pearson bunch hardly post these days so any other squabbles stand out a mile in a generally quiet forum. Let's not kid ourselves that this board was some kind of question time style debate, it was just a bunch if arguments, banter and a few laughs
Poor old Jason got hammered on Social media after the Forest game what you don't realise he and Youngy where getting a lot of abuse and venom from the Forest so called fans within touching distance it was vile and he had to cope with that and he is still relatively new so may be cut him some slack.
Sounded like Youngy was ready to lump someone.
He could clearly be heard calling for a Steward ( not JG is he ? ) and saying "I'm just trying to do my job pal"
Inilesta, I'm genuinely appalled by what happened to your father. This is not a patronising outlet, but a real feeling of grievance for the way he was belittled by people who are nothing more than cowards. I have noticed a reduction in numbers of those apparent 'nice guys' who have departed these shores never to re-emerge and I highlighted this some time ago. I do hope Malling has only 'taken cover' in view of the latest aerial bombardment and will return to bring his often eloquent threads to the fore.
As for bullies? Well, I spent over 33 years in one of the services and had to endure a relentless tide of tomfoolery from zeros and the like, dealt with these wasters in an 'appropriate' fashion and it has provided me with a solid backbone. They can write what they want on here about me.
A recent session of mild telephone therapy with Dr Dung certainly paid dividends in providing a balanced mind and perhaps a repeat prescription is on the cards!
"I do hope Malling has only 'taken cover' in view of the latest aerial bombardment and will return to bring his often eloquent threads to the fore."
In all seriousness, I assume this was meant sarcastically?
Ha! Ha! You're a star BS.
