No, they'd want at least £3m peni.

Slotted in seamlessly today though I agree.

Bryson extended in the summer did he not?

Hopefully we'll look again this summer at ALL players and take out any release clauses they may have.

Seriously not intentionally wumming but Hughes is clearly too good. He looks like an Arsenal player on the ball. Very composed. Be amazed if he is there next year.

He got better and better during the game and I thought his movement was superb... He kept popping up to receive the ball in space ...
Can't recall many misplaced passes
everything was simple
Except for that fantastic pass to Bamford just before the penalty (I think ..... it was all a blur)

Think he needs a few more games but showed the fight.

Better to analize in the cool light of day.As 2W says after a few more games.

The early yellow was a concern but the kid barely put a foot wrong

Havent seen Thorne play before today but immediately his calmness on the ball was fantastic. Superb option...

Didn't realise he was that big either, think he's sealed his place for the run-in

Baggie here 👍

Take it you rate George?

Only his first appearance but looks incredibly mature and does simple things well, the mark of a good player.

I would like to see how he fares against a proper team instead of billy's bottlers, but his debut was very promising indeed. His positioning and awareness was spot on today and the pass to Bamford for the penalty was excellent.

One thought... why was Darlow not sent off for the penalty?
I don't condone keepers being sent off because I think a penalty is sufficient punishment but fielding was sent off for something similar a couple of years ago?

I maintain had we played Thorne and left out Hughes a few weeks ago we would now be second , a solid looking holding player allowed other midfielders to get forward and score.
Please don't leave him out and bring back Hughes SM .We need the same team against Ipswich .

Probably because it wasn't a clear goal scoring chance Simon. His run was angled away from the goal, so it would have been a hard narrow angle shot with defenders in with a fair chance of covering the near post, or more likely a pull-back or ball across the 6 yard box.
Probably not a clear enough chance to qualify for a straight red.

I thought the ref did really well yesterday. Nice to get a decent one for a change!

Yeah - can't stop smiling today... dunno why

Just think, maybe in the 22nd century our great great grandchildren could be singing Craig Bryson's Watching

Obv. no disrespect to the great man, and Bryson has a long way to go to match his achievements, so maybe for the moment... how about 'best goal-scoring midfielder since Bruce Rioch?' Too far or is it fair comment?

Rob,

Sorry, I like the sentiment but I think you go too far based on one 90 minute performance.

We're 10 points behind Burnley, and with a much inferior goal-
difference. We'd have needed to pick up an extra 11 point over the last couple of weeks for us to be 2nd... where would they possibly have come from?

Exactly what i was thinking Wideboy... Robrea was advocating playing Thorne & Eustace holding and Bryson supporting Martin - this isn't even how we played yesterday anyway... I see the logic that we MIGHT have gone that way at Burnley, but the other dropped points 0-1 millwall 0-0 bolton 0-0 reading i don't see how playing Thorne & Eustace holding would have helped solve the lack of goals.

posted on 23/3/14

Wideboy, beat Burnley millwall and one of reading and Bolton and you're there. I don't think we were really going to make it automatic in all honesty anyway. I just hope yesterday spurs us on to another few good results that will ensure a solid run in and good place in terms of confidence for the play offs

It's all ifs buts and maybes isn't it... Burnley are clearly the 2nd best team over the course of the season and will fully deserve their promotion. The good thing for us is that we can blow anyone a way on our day so the play offs should hold nothing to fear.

Jorvik mate if you are reading, i have lady blah baa, recovered from our friendly red dogs.

Yes but we didn't and what you're suggesting is based on 20/20 hindsight.

A big dilemma for SMcL now. Does he play a West Brom player or a Derby player? A no brainer really I think. George Thorne and try to get him to stay if we can get promoted.
