That's absolute twaddle. Modric has had a good, consistent season. Nothing spectacular about it. If you want spectacular, watch Ozil when Madrid won the title.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Go on
Next your gonna tell me how Townsend is better than Modric
...........ever ask yourself why they bought those players, why they spent £120m on players + £35m on Modric the season before when they had Ozil. May be because Ozil was not good enough. No one is saying he is a bad player, he is high quality. What Jose did not like about him is the same as he disliked about Mata, without the ball he is a passenger. With the ball he is very effective and complemented by playing behind one of the best players in the world, ROnaldo. The comparison with Modric & his stats is false. Modric is more of a deep lying CM, he is often the player who gets the move going, not the one delivering the assist.
As his time at Spurs also showed, he is the one setting free the fast attacking players who go on to create the chances and the same applies at Madrid.
Ozil is more effective in the final third and he has been quite effefctive, just not what you might expect from an apparent, established world class midfielder costing +£40m hitting his peak. The conclusion that I draw from the stats is that one has underperformed, given the price tag, the other has performed well and is now playing at a level well above what you'd expect from a 22 year old £11m midfielder in his first season in the EPL.
Spurs can draw some comfort from the fact that Eriksen's progression is matching Modrics in many ways. Slow start, maybe thought to be a bit lightweight, (sacked manager mid season), but now getting use to the pace and power of the league and starting to impose himself. Different players but on a similar curve of progression.
Spurs fans can also take comfort in the fact that Wenger did not think Modric would suit the EPL and he would have, without a doubt, also considered Eriksen and also concluded he's not good enough....good omens for the lads career."
Madrid could have Messi, Ronaldo, Bale, Neymar, Suarez, Aguero, Ibrahimovic etc in the same team and they'd still be looking for more players. It's who they are and how they operate. Ozil was a brilliant player for Madrid, just like Robben and Makelele were, and was still sold. And I really don't understand bringing up Modric. He's a total non-factor in why Ozil was sold. And mind you, Ozil was offered the chance to stay. He'd probably be occupying DiMaria's no.10 position if he chose to stay but he reportedly bottled it when Ancellotti told him and Di Maria that they weren't guaranteed to start. Di Maria chose to stay and fight, Ozil chose to move. At least, that's what the Madrid press claim.
And Mourinho loved Ozil, contrary to your claims. He called him "unique" and "special" and the best playmaker in Europe. Modric worked much harder but still warmed the bench. Ozil was one of the first names on the teamsheet. Until late in games were Mourinho ALWAYS substituted him - usually for Modric.

got to chuckle at the gooons don't you.
"Go on Next your gonna tell me how Townsend is better than Modric"
Townsend isn't better than Modric. Why would I tell you that? Ozil is comfortably superior to Modric. In any of the last 4/5 seasons, you'd be laughed off to claim otherwise. A 21-year-old Ozil in Werder Bremen was comfortably superior to Modric. Modric had 5 goals and 7 assists in his MOST PRODUCTIVE season at Spurs playing as a winger/attcking midfielder. Ozil in his worst season since he left his teens has 6 goals and 14 assists. Yeah, yeah,...it's not all about the stats. Except when stats show a consistent trend, they're a reliable means of judging one's shortcomings. You can keep feeding your delusions though. Ozil's benchwarming sidekick when he played at Madrid - despite Modric being the far more expensive, older signing - is apparently better than him. Maybe Modric scr.ewed Mouriho's kid and Mourinho just hated him.

no, it's because Modric is an unproductive player lacking the vision and execution of the best playmakers regardless of where he plays on the pitch. As I said, Modric's most productive season since he left Croatia was the 5 goals and 7 assists when he played as a left winger and no.10. He will always be a glorified Joe Allen/Leon Britton.
His being at Madrid has nothing to do with Ozil and Ozil leaving has nothing to do with Modric. Ozil's attacking midfield spot was never and can never be threatened by Modric.

He also played attacking midfield. Infact, until injuries to Khedira and Alonso gave Modric his real break in Madrid, he's spent all his time there as Ozil's sidekick. The guy that gets brought as Ozil's sub every game after 70 - 80 minutes.

No, it's not. For starters, Ozil is pretty effective on the wing. He'll still create more from there than most can dream of. And for your info, until 'Arry played Modric CM at the end of the '09/10 season - starting against us when Rose scored THAT goal - Modric spent most of his career as an attacking midfielder. His shortcomings there is probably why he was moved further back to keep the tempo and recycle possession while allowing the REAL creators to do their stuff.
