We need good defenders !
I don't care how much they cost
Paulinho is the one I am most disappointed in....not sure what his skill set is.
Soldado, much of his problems have been how he's been used. Not enough support for him under AVB and his confidence took a knock as a result and he started missing good chances.
I love his touch though he plays some great first time layoffs and is starting to link well with Chadli & Eriksen. He looked good vs Saints when supplied.
Lamela. AVB right to ease him in IMO, but then his sacking then injury has meant his season is a write-off, cannot really judge.
good article.
what I think we need to do this summer is decide what style of play we want, and then we need to target players who fit into this style, whether they are cheap or expensive.
you could sign the best player in the world for loads, but if you use him poorly then you would be better off buying a less talented player for less, but using him properly.
as spurs have shown over and over and over again, you can pick up very very good players in the 6 mill - 15mill bracket.
Having broomfield back scouting for us should help I think.

Agree with this entirely.
But at the same time, I really really hope don't sign more than 2 - 3 players. LB, possibly CB / wing cover. No more.
Every week we bang on about the players needing a season to settle, so give them a chance rather than replacing them already. It feels like we try and rebuild every year.

we need two centre backs and at least one left back
I was listening to a podcast by that Greg Stobart (or something like that) bloke and he was saying that Spurs have never spent big money well. Bentley, Bent, Pav etc (maybe bar Luka). Its the smaller risks that have paid off.
Can't really argue with that Edin.
Two CB's Chronic? Are you assuming that Vertonghen is leaving?

I've been one of Soldado's biggest critics, and whilst he deserves some criticism over his poor form in front of goal, he has really impressed me lately how unselfish he has been, and been a real team player. Most strikers going through this much of a dry patch would almost shoot on site, but he has been handing chances on a plate for others (or at least trying to).
Its a funny ole game though isn't it, as Chadli would have been considered a flop just 2 weeks ago, but a couple of half decent performances, a couple of goals, and he's back in favour.
Eriksen is the obvious "find" so far, and even Paulinho has had his good games. I dont think they're as bad buys as we think, but they do need to start repaying some of the fee back, even it its not just them driving them transfer value back up to cash in.

by who? opposition fans on the wum? anyone who has watched spurs this season knows he hasn't been too bad - not sure what people expect for 7mill

I dont think the actual individual cost matters, people just focus on the fact he was bought as part of the Bale money, and judge him on that (wrongly or rightly).
It just goes to show though, when you play players in their preferred position (and not as round pegs in square holes) you get to see the real player.
I think he's done okay but i doubt he would have been called a successful signing prior 2 or 3 weeks ago. I rate him though. He's a good option to have.
Liverpool have purchased well over the last few transfer windows:-
Suarez -22m
Sturridge-12m
Coutinho-8.5m
Ok there have been some not so good one's like Aspas, but he has only cost 6m, so perhaps something could be learned from the scousers.

You have forgot....
Sakho - £18m
Allen - £17m
Llori - £7.5m
Borini - £12m
Aspas - £8m
Alberto - £7m
The bad far out weigh the good.
