Joe Allen has taken his time to settle but has been a very good player for us, £15m was a lot but he's been very good when called upon.
£30m net for a club that brings in as much money as Liverpool is nothing when you've got the likes of Chelsea spending £30m+ on a player just to stop him going to another club in Willian. City spending £25m on Jovetic to get no where near the squad!
Kolo, another question seeing as you're here: what can you tell me about the club's general finances? I saw that you posted losses in recent seasons, but I really don't have a clue as to your current level of debt and how sustainable it is.

And if Liverpool do qualify for the champions league then is the time to spend the money on the right players in improve the first 11 and in turn the squad for next season!

The OP made out you'd not spent anything, but spending £100m net in 3 seasons is a lot of money.
As I said, Brendan is doing a fantastic job, but you have spent money.
--------------------------
Where does the op make out we'd not spent? He says we are proving you don't have to be a sugar daddy's play thing to break in to the party.
Just sounds like sour grapes from a spurs fan who's club wasted the best chance to strengthen they're squad after selling they're best player. Yes maybe Coutinho and Sturridge have been the stand out players of Rodgers era upto now but Allen has played his part and Sakho has been hampered by injuries.
Rodgers has galvanised a squad of players that 3 years ago where in the relegation zone and utilised a crop of youngsters in the process!
Any rumours on who you might be after?

Not a scooby!

Our club is still trying to recover from the fallout of the Gillet and Hicks era and failed stadium plans of which cost £50m. FSG have been bringing our debt Down whilst trying to develop the ground, all in all we are a lot better off than we were 3 years ago when a bank could have ended us!

And may I add that he's done all this whilst shifting the dead wood of the likes of Carrol and downing who cost a combined £55m. What where we thinking!

Gotcha, so I suppose the recent losses posted are mainly due to debt servicing? I imagine that means you'd need to sustain CL footy for a few seasons before the additional revenues and int'l exposure can be (almost) fully reinvested in strengthening.
Not necessarily a bad thing though, as that would mean your academy prospects have more chances of breaking through. That's pretty much been the case in recent years, hasn't it?
Yes because don't forget we were the in the CL for a number of years and the loss of that money would be huge to anyone, beware utd.
Saying all that the club has constantly said that the money is there for the right players and we (reportedly) bid for Costa, Willian, Mkhitaryan in the summer but we had finished 7th and had no champions league football.
Hopefully next year we won't have those problems!

fourth highest spenders over the last 10 years with a net spend of 198 million, they've spent plenty
Here come the poor relations!
4th highest, so were puching above our weight to challenge for the title then, thanks for backing up the OP
it means you've been the biggest underachievers for years spending so much money to be outside the top 4

But what's underachieving though? We've won stuff in those 10 years. Our percentage of trophies won per £ will be better than Evertons erm...... 0%

---------
those 10 years
1 CL
1 CL Final
1 fa cup
1 League cup
6 of those years playing in the cl
for that period of 10 years id say we are the 4th or 5th most succesful club, so not really underacheivers
