To be fair we need some craft as well as we quickly run out of ideas's and resort to lumping it long...........though I have heard a rumour we may need a striker

Stop whining. We've signed O'Grady and Uchechichichi, no-one else wants to come, so that's that. Anyway, Marshall says he can also play up front and 'in the hole'.

we need another centre half more than awt else

We need a winger as much as a striker.

is he a fox in the hole?

I think a winger is exactly whats needed.

We don't need Winger, look what a mess he's making at Arsenal.

I think we need both. We have one winger with any pace, JJ, and we know how consistent and injured he is!!

Also as this guy is 6ft tall then he would be a threat up front as a striker, either by floating in from the wing or playing up front outright.

I know nothing about him but if he is any good he will be a good addition to the team.

This is a perfect signing for us. It should fix some of the problems. I still find it hard to get over last nights game though. We were undone by years of hard work by Alan Knill and his coaching staff when they were at Bury. If our manager could over time teach our players to perform that way, we could with our resources be a long way up the Championship. As it is we need the right blend, and we don't have players who pass it as crisply as they do and look as comfortable on the ball. Prutton arguably is a decent passer of the ball, as is Lines and perhaps you could include Madine and the new kid Marshall as well, but we have to work and work and work on this system for years as it does take years. I know someone connected to Alan Knill, who is now at Scunny and he was saying all the work he had done turning Bury into a decent football team he is having to do from scratch again at Bury. What we all have to ask with Megson is can over say 3 seasons do exactly the same with Wednesday or are we going to be a team lacking a lot of cohesion like we have been this season. My mate believes we should get shut of Megson because he can't ever employ this style, but ultimately in the short term are we as a team not good enough ability wise for a pass and move game as so we often put the ball to the strikers heads to no avail;is it just good pressure by our opponents forcing them to hoof it or is this just Megson's instructions or does Megson want us to pass it but the players just won't

it's what's available at present and he seems to be taking is time in getting the right people in to the club,
yes , we need another striker, but there's not much quality around out there for little money, and we don't want to go back to blowing big bucks for players that aren't good enough.
we have to wait for the right man and then we get him, i think the road is getting shorter but we have a fair way to go before we are there....

"perhaps you could include Madine"
As a good passer of the ball? Are you senile?

its very early in the season and there is no need to panic just yet.
meggo has stated many times that he wants more players and he can get many a player in, just not the right ones.
so he is right to wait, if he cant sign the type of player he wants then id rather wait and use the loan market.
IMO i would get a loanee in for a season from a higher division rather than ALF, we need pace in this team pure and simple. so a speedy striker is a must.
meggo will get it right, we just need to be a little patient.

Strikers are as only good as the supply they get from midfield & so far it's been pretty bad so a winger is a good signing for me. It might take Madine a few attempts to get his first goal but as soon as he does they will be free flowing, goals breed confidence & condifence mean more wins with passing football other than donkey ball up to a lone striker surounded by defenders!

The future bright the future blue & white

CoG and Madine are both decent for this level. Shame that CoG is already injured but thats Wednesday.

We need a backup striker but wingers are the priority.

To be honest we need both.... give Marshall a chance as i know nothing about him. But we still need anther winger.

I also think we need 2 strikers... not a fan of any of the ones we have although again illgive Uchetci a chance as i know nothing about him.

Well said Dewalts strikers only finish if the supply is good. Also a good striker creates opportunities for others with good movement so we need to look not just at speed but also intelligence. After all Shrringham was not the quickest but made goals all over the place with little movements left right and all round.

Madine bagged around 14 goals (i think) for Carlise before coming to us. Players dont turn shat overnight. With the right service I am sure that we have 3 players in Madine, Clint and Ogrady that can score plenty of goals this season

Madine can be a top player. His movement and reading of the game are good. His problems are confidence and playing in an under-performing team that lacks energy.

He'd be an asset to any team in this division.

Megson doesn't have the luxury of 3 or 4 seasons to build a passing side like Knill did at Bury, and he knew that before he signed up as manager. MM has made it clear that he expects promotion this season. Megson has chosen his players, had his Austrian training/bonding time and has as much preparation for this season as any other manager.
Remember his promise? "we will be the fittest side in League 1 and we will hit the ground running"

"Does Megson want us to pass it but the players just won't"??

If that's the case, then it begs the question who exactly is in charge of the team?

Ah but you can substitute Megson for Irvine or Laws because it's been happening for a while. There is an ongoing issue whereby players pull on the shirt and then won't do what they are told.

If Megson can't get them to do what he wants then what chance does the next incumbent have?

If we have wingers then we have width and this should give the player in possession options. Frankly if they still won't perform I don't know what the solution is cos I know think that its a bigger problem than changing the manager.

According to wikipedia we paid £800k for Madine
for someone with "movement and reading of the game", he doesn't half go missing a lot and has more instinct to duck under the ball than he has to hit the net.
A lack of a presence up top is more of an issue than a midfield not creating chances - which is an assessment i disagree with anyway

Some people will complain about anything. I was reading complaints about a lack of width and need to sign some decent wide players recently. For gods sake quit griping and get behind your team!
