The only improvement is the possibility of a cup

Who was expecting better?
Many thought spurs would be taking 4th place again off us and we were in termoil.
Its been a really good season imo But with a lot of what ifs.
I can guarantee if Walcott & Rambo did not miss half the season we would easily have at least 6 more points.
Everyone were backing Spurs to over take you before you signed Ozil but after the signing you were talked up as potential top 3 teams!
Don't buy the injury excuse as we could start crying about several points dropped due to King been injured
Still failed big time to reinforce the squad and we're now back to a scrap for fourth. We caused our own downfalls every step of the way. Previously we've had to sell our best and bought subpar replacements. Now we just haven't bothered to spend the multi millions we have in order to do better. We lack abition and stink of complacency.
Bad season, I'd say more of a "failed miserably to fulfill our potential" season.
And as stated you had a transfer window to address injuries but instead you bought and injured player!
We are going to win silverware and finish in the top 4. Most arsenal fans back in august were crying that we wouldnt even do that

Because we failed so miserably in the summer window. Just because we needlessly set ourselves up for a tough season and have done ok doesn't mean we couldn't be doing a hell of a lot better.
Another boring same old season that you could predict. Basically nothing different to the last 7 years; not buying what we needed in the summer despite big statements n claims, a false dawn of a 'title challenge' , injury pile up n injury to key players, no reinforcement in January, a 'battle' for the 4th place trophy, loosing (getting thrashed) to all the 'big teams' yawn. Another cr-appy season.
Btw we ain't won the fa cup and could easily go out.
I would agree with the sentiment that it is an improvement that we are not far off the leaders and favorites for a domestic cup. However, the reality is that all our major rivals have new managers who are trying to embed their philosophy on their teams; Man Utd having a shocker of a season; Spurs selling their best player have contributed to our situation rather than actual squad progression.
I said it earlier in the season even when we were top of the league that our transfer business in August was woeful and the continued ignorance or blind faith to not reinforce in January is just nothing short of criminal.
Even if we win the cup and finish 4th, it would not be down to anything more than the failings of other teams rather than our club moving in the right direction of squad improvement.
Failure in the big games against our rivals, injuries that never seem to heal and a lack of depth, look at our subs bench especially in forward positions. Deja vu.
We have been lulled into false hope of being top for so long but I am still happy with where we are.
Our form against top teams need to improve next season to have a chance of sustaining a title challenge. Also our home form needs to improve.
But, yea, give me what we've got now at the beginning of this season and I woulda taken it. Ask me the same question after Everton and Wigan games and you are most likely to get a different answer.
Not bad, but the title was there for the taking, instead we put a load of our players on the injury bench (again), failed to sign anyone in January to address urgent issues (again) and capitulated our position in March (again).
I think fans are just tired of the same cycle every year, in the end you can predict you'll be fourth and win nothing.
instead we put a load of our players on the injury bench (again), failed to sign anyone in January to address urgent issues (again) and capitulated our position in March (again).
-------------------------------------------------
How did we put our players on the injury bench?
We needed a striker in Jan, as did CFC, why do you think they didn't get one, because there was no top strikers around in Jan.
We haven't been challenging for the title for years so how could we have capitulated again in March?
Some people will never be happy, take Toure,Silva & Kompany out of Man c or Hazard, Terry and Oscar out of CFC or Suarez,Sturridge and Gerrard out of LFC at the same time and see how well they do.

Oh my
How did we put our players on the injury bench?
-----------------
Count the number of medium/long-term injuries we have this and every year.
We needed a striker in Jan, as did CFC, why do you think they didn't get one, because there was no top strikers around in Jan.
---------------------------
ALL players have a price so don't tell me you can't find a striker. If it's the difference between winning the title and losing out then spend a bit more money. Failing that, buy one back in August!
We haven't been challenging for the title for years so how could we have capitulated again in March?
---------------
We do so every March. See comments regarding our ability against our immediate rivals too.
Some people will never be happy, take Toure,Silva & Kompany out of Man c or Hazard, Terry and Oscar out of CFC or Suarez,Sturridge and Gerrard out of LFC at the same time and see how well they do.
-------------------
But they weren't out were they? It's only Arsenal who have these injuries, every year. We shouldn't be failing because we have the same injuries every year, only because we aren't good enough. You can see why this is frustrating, surely?
Premleague - we are battling for fourth again
CL - knocked out again by the bigger teams
FA - could be our saving grace but will not be surprised if we chocked this.
Unless we win the FA the season is the same old
I know what your saying but really tell me a top striker we could have bought in Jan without spending our whole summer transfer budget.
Usually we're out of most things by Dec/Jan so being out by March is an improvement.
I know we seem to get these injuries every year but you can't blame Wenger for Walcotts knee going against THFC. The other injuries maybe Wenger could have maybe used the players a little less.
My main issue this season has been the beatings we took from our rivals, sort that out and we'll be ok.

You really have low ambitions/ expectations don't you
People assume to much.
Yes teams have new managers but Man C and Chelsea still spent big and Mourinho is hardly a new manager.
Besides Liverpool we have improved better then the others.
Yes we lost BIG to the teams above us but Man U have spent big and still may not even get European next season at all, Spurs may have sold their best player but still invested heavily.
If we sold Walcott or Ramsey and spent £100 mil (including Ozil) I would assume we would be top.
I also agree we have a better judge of the season by next weekend but ATM we should not moan at the season as a whole. Games v the top 3 and even Man U we can moan at but that on individual games not the season as a whole.
IF we beat Everton and Wigan, we will be in a strong position for a trophy and top 4 without (hopefully) being 20 points off the pace.
People moan at not getting a striker or more re inforcements and I agree with this, but Ozil was a big investment and Flamini has given us a bit of steel and solidity at the back and in the midfield.
We can all assume its Wengers fault for lack of signings and maybe it is, but 3 possible large bids have been made for Suarez, Higuain and Draxler.
Is it Wengers fault they were not accepted ? or were the clubs relunctant the sell...???
Think what you will but its happened and we are still in t he title (just) and in a cup....

It's a good point though. Had we won or drawn the away games against City, Liverpool and Chelsea, just those three results would have the table looking very different.
I do have issue with summer transfer business (no complaints about Jan because that window's become a joke arena in which agents are just fleecing everyone). Though I'm not on the "We must have a super-striker now now!" band wagon. We should have got a couple more decent squad players just so we had some established players on the bench. Bare in mind "super-striker" is far more likely to do what Ozil has done and produce well under par in his first year, than get off the plane/boat and smash away 30 delivering us a title. So we could easily have made that purchase in summer and been in the same position due to his settling in period anyway (granted with prob one more player fit).
I've said for years now, we need a new physio and team because there's a definite difference between us and other clubs. Our players seem to be out longer and more often than anyones in the prem and not always the same ones.
Overall though, even if we win nothing, this season is better than last and we are in a much better position to go forward. That said, I think we do have to win the FA Cup for anyone to call it progress.
"Premleague - we are battling for fourth again

Not really, apart from Man U's temporary problems, I think the gulf between us and the other top 3 has definitely got wider.
