Giroud NEEDS a season where he's not relied on to start 99% of games and carry a team with high expectations eek in/week out.

I think under pretty crazy circumstances, Giroud's done well, I really do.

True that. He could be just going through a bad spell much like Sturridge is only having a purple patch.

Nah,sorry. Sturridge has always had potential but just wasn't been used right, Giroud has been playing in his prefered position for 2 years with us and has not improved at all.

if youre doing well for a period its described as a purple patch but what if youre a good player and you have a period of poor form, how is that described?

Giroud needs a good partner, but not a female one.

I don't think he's compatible with monogamy? He needs more of a licence to roam and express himself?

There's virtually zero chance of a bidding war breaking out over Costa's transfer fee.

Why not?

Is that set? I heard he renegotiated his contract so any fee would be silly money?

Podolski.............

A new contract would be the only scenario, Moist, that's why I said "virtually", as I can't imagine him wanting to pen a new contract between now and the end of the season unless it's for a salary that would keep him at the club regardless.

Atleti already doubled his wages last summer when he extended until 2018 and agreed the current €38M release clause.

Thing is, people (including myself) are just assuming that Costa will run for the exit like a Bat out of Hell in the summer, when A Madrid are having a superb season and in with a real shout for honours. The player's apparently VERY happy at Atletico and unless the club want to cash in, he may well stay.

But inevitably IF he does end up leaving, as well as an eye-wateringly large transfer-fee, his wages, bonus's, add-on's etc will be colossal, hence realistically I can only see a very small handful of clubs being in the running for his signature.

The Cavanis, Costas and Falcaos of this world are out of our reach people ; stop dreaming.
Realistically , get Remy, Morata and say, Drmic (deploy in left of a front three) in and retain Giroud . Get rid of Bendtner, Park and sadly, Podolski .
Podolski 's fee offsets outlay for Drmic ; £33m should secure Remy and Morata.
Rest of our budget say, £47m goes to secure a DM, RB CB and goalie.
Sorted!

Arsenal can pay the big wages, but won't (currently) pay the outrageous megabucks that the 1% of clubs are prepared to (PSG, Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, the mad Russian clubs etc...).

The likes of PSG and Man City won't bat an eyelid in offering a squad player upwards of 150k per-eek!

Unless a club is prepared to accept that and has a benefactor prepared to swallow a loss, they'd be irresponsible and I dare say bonkers to even go there!

I seriously think JC could do a job for us.

I would have him over Gnabry on the flanks. The German will benefit from a loan to a mid-table premiership club next season.

posted on 4/4/14

Are we basing this on his goal against Utd? I haven't seen any of him this season tbf apart from that so can't really comment.

Think Gnabry has done a good job when he's played more often than not - a good option for the bench but no more for the time being.
