It's the best decision for all parties. Pearson originally brought him in on loan during our first season in the championship and he did well.
After Pearson left, Mandaric inexplicably spent £2.5m to get him to Leicester permanently, which even Steve Bruce described as 'silly money'. He wasn't worth anywhere near that and I think his tenure at Leicester has shown that to be the case.
He works hard, has potential and I'm sure he will do well with Wigan so good luck to him
Best of luck Martin. Despite it never really happening for you with the foxes, your attitude was always 100% and because of that you found your way into our hearts. I enjoyed watching you play. On the one occasion I met Martin, in a hotel pre Huddersfield away FA cup tie, he was the most normal, down to earth young kid that you would ever want to meet. Very polite, very courteous; a credit to LCFC.
As for Wigan, my opinion of them changed on Tuesday night. It was my first visit to the DW and I have to say I was impressed. Clearly still a Premier League set up. Good organisation (take note Barnsley) and a good noisy atmosphere. Martin could have done a lot worse than this. Wigan have got themselves a decent signing here. Lets hope we see them both next year.
Very likeable bloke, but just didn't achieve the level of consistency required to hold down a place and the fewer chances he got the poorer his performances became when a game came his way.
I loved the elation he showed after scoring the winner against Bristol last season.
I read somewhere that there is an additional £1 million payment to Sunderland if he got promoted with us, which may explain the timing of the move
And he has just scored for Wigan against Leeds
Given that he was playing for a manager that wanted him and got plenty of support from the fans, there's still a lot of mystery around Waghorn for me. He had ability, but somehow he never really got into the team. Now he's signed for Wigan, a team with a chance of playing in the Premiership last season and a team for whom he's been playing well.
Strange.
