Appreciate the sentiment kinnell, but there's a flip side to that coin. A other 'reality check' is that in these tou financial times, many people are not going to be prepared to shell out to watch what we witnessed in the last 3 home games.
The reason why the bandwagon rolled into wembley is because it was a showpiece, with the promise of something special. Entertainment.
You really cannot blame people for keeping their money in their pockets, with tickets up to £30.
Regarding the 'down to earth', absolutely spot on there. My concern is that Hill spoke rhetorically about how is players were good enough at this level, quote "judge them on their performances, not on where they have come from"
Now all of a sudden, his stance is 'the fans need a laity check on the quality of player we can bring in'
He may have a very short memory, but the fans are not stupid. In my opinion, he has realised very very quickly, that his players a maybe not as well equipped as he thought.
I'll give him time. Just not sure how long just yet. Smoke signals are worrying though, you can't possibly deny that?
Ps. Apologies for the badd inglish....stupid iPad auto spell!!!!
Sorry - it costs me too much to fly in from Australia every week..... but i do justify the big games every decade!
If i were there, i'd be at every game.
UTR!
its early days yet although i agree the last three game have been worring ,i can not understand why hassel is not a automatic choice proven in the past to be a good defender. As for the pricing of the games i agree they are a bit expensive as there is not much money around these days,
i think they would get more supporters if they charged £20 for all home matches to fill those empty spaces which may actually add another 5 to 7 thousand supporters to create a better atmhosphere in the ground which i think would reflect on the teams performances
,
Last season's category C games cost £14...We sold less than a hundred home tickets for each of these games...We have to charge £30 as to keep the club afloat with the away support...
The town is demonstrating that it's not particularly bothered about having a Championship team...
Going round in circles again
I'm in total agreement with you there Mester Cooling, time are hard in the area for most family finances.
And Don Rowings plan of charging £30 a ticket will his season, will turn fans away if the performance's are not right, but some fans seem to have thrown in the towel without even going to a game.
I back up Sparty's comment that even at last seasons £14 games we did not see much of an improvement in attendance's, and as he also said "it seems the towns not bothered about Championship football"
I blame the governments for the apathy in our support...
"OK the football at the moment isn't too brilliant...". That's one way of putting it. The football at the moment is atrocious and not all to do with money, as your OP suggests it is. Playing one up front is nowt to do with money. Neither is leaving Hassell on the bench when we lack bite. Neither is playing Addison in midfield when he can't run and can't pass. Neither is the almost total lack of confidence all over the pitch against Southampton and the lack of commitment to track runners from midfield or find space when we have the ball. Hill has made a very poor start, not because of a lack of money but because he's made some poor tactical mistakes. If he stops making them all well and good but if it carries on we'll all need ear plugs to drown out the booing.
The point of the post was to highlight that through our continued lack of support for the towns team, over the last few years, we now have to operate on a bagain basement budget in both management and players.
In short, we've got what we paid for,
Tactics and player performance's are another issue,
