Would it have been better for UEFA to wait until after the draw to do something about it. After all we may not even get drawn Atletico after all this commotion.

Sahin played the previous round for Dortmund vs Madrid and no one kicked up a fuss. I imagine there weren't any provisions in his contract to the contrary though.

No, they said the exact opposite. Just sky plussed it back.
The boy should not be allowed to play.
Too much at stake, and conflict of interests accusations if he had a genuine comedy mare during the games etc.
Atletico will just have to treat this one as if their #1 squad GK was injured for two games.

He's their keeper this season, there is no conflict of interest.
He'll want to win the champions league whether he's your player or not.

I'd swear that later in the draw they amended themselves. To be perfectly honest, I wasn't listening too attentively, but I think the speaker said something about correcting a previous mistake.
