The only thing that I really don't want is Europa, such a pointless exercise.

Find it funny people argue over CL or FA cup. We can do both.....

FA cup or CL? why decide.

CL is not in our hands at the moment.

From next season the Europa winners get into CL so it won't be as pointless as it has been

Juve, Inter, Liverpool, Feyenoord, Real Madrid, Porto, PSV, Ajax, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, all European Cup winners who also won the UEFA Cup/EL. They certainly didn't approach it as if it were beneath them.

Why any fan of a club who's never won this trophy let alone old big ears would diss this trophy is absolutely beyond me. Not wishing to offend, but it seems overly arrogant, as if the fact you've played so many seasons of CL footy somehow puts you above anything else you might deserve due to your league position.

It might not be a money-spinner, but let the accountants do the numbers. It might not be the CL, but it would still be a worthy addition to your trophy cabinet. It might not carry the prestige it once did, but surely it carries a hell of a lot more than the League Cup you were happy to compete for and seemed so eager to win a couple of years back.

Each to their own, but as a Madrid fan the 2 UEFA titles we won back in the 80s brought me as much joy as any other trophy we've won. And as a Madrid fan, if we did miss out on CL footy or get bounced into the EL from the group stage, I'd be more than happy for the opportunity to compete for the EL and would certainly hope to see the side go for it hell and leather.

I agree. The only reason people seem to hate it, is because of the long away game journeys and Thursday games.

We would play on a Wednesday anyway which is only 1 day and the PL game will be pushed to accomodate this is most cases. 2nd: teams like Ruben etc have made the CL so if we drew against them would we moan of the long journey??

Also the Europa is probably a Euro trophy we can win....

Not saying I want to play in it over the CL as I don't but it would not be that bad if we did.

But I am confident we will do the double this season...Top 4 trophy and the FA cup...

Not beneath us (nothing is) but it's still more of a burden than blessing. It's worth winning but with the CL place being the prize it just shows what a pointless money spinner it is for UEFA that the holder won't even bother to defend it...

The thing with Arsenal is that heads should role if we don't qualify automatically for the CL as we have more resources available than everyone else at the moment and are intentionally not using them.

Not necessarily a burden. It can also be a building block to go on to bigger and better things. Ask Porto, who won it and then won the CL the next year, or Atletico who've won it twice recently and have slowly built themselves into being serious CL contenders.

I actually think they should regardless. I've said it before: with all the managerial changes and transitions involved among the top sides, this year was a gilt-edged opportunity to win the PL. Arsenal really should have broken the bank to bring in all the necessary reinforcements, because this was the one year when it really made sense to. Someone should be held responsible for the failure to do so imo. I mean, all credit to Liverpool for their campaign, but if they do go on to win the league it will have required a 25-point or so leap over last year's results. About half of that (4 extra wins) would've probably sufficed for Arsenal to do it, yet you're more or less in the same place you were last year. That shouldn't be acceptable imo.

Pretty much spot on mate

I don't however agree with the Europa being much of a stepping stone for Arsenal in particular as it won't magically change us into a club who are making the most of our insane resources. Heads rolling, new medical staff, a major boardroom shake up, Wenger either completely changing his ways or leaving and being replaced by a hungry new manager will do that.

Europa... meh, would happily win it but would rather do a hell of a lot of other things as a priority.
