Thank you all for your kind words. It has taken me 25 years to put that on paper.
I had to leave my office for a couple of hours. I went to the local bar and watched the service with a fellow red. I was unable to come back to work as i was so emotional. Just got back and the kind words on here from real football fans has made this day easier.
Thanks all

Cheers Dunc, very insightful. I'm barred from the Liverpool board so can't comment on the article, but that took some balls to write that. Definitely impacted me and others reading some of the comments.
How anyone can mock rival fans over something like this is beyond my comprehension, and I'm glad of that. After reading that, if anyone still found it necessary to mock, they are highly certifiable.

It is at time like this when we all come to realise that there are far more important things in life than football.
Petty club rivalries are really insignificant.

Wow. Close to tears reading that.
Very moving and thanks for taking the time and effort to do that T-Bone.
It had me in tears.
I couldn't possibly imagine the anger that day must have caused to those closest to it and makes me thoroughly ashamed of my country and how we are governed that it has taken so long to get anywhere near the truth.

What happened is a disgrace. That it was covered up and lied about is even worse.
It really has little to do with football.
96 British citizens were killed due to massive failings by the authorities (Police, Councils, etc).
The authorities then proceeded to cover it up and blame the victims.
This is a national scandal for us all regardless of which bloody team we like the most.

Read that with a lump in my throat. I had just turned 13 at the time so pretty much the same age as you, I can't imagine having to witness something so harrowing at such an age.
Hopefully you can see from the comments above the positive and thought provoking effect your article has had. Thank you so much for putting it out there for us.
People automatically link it as a tragic day for Liverpool FC and their fans, when in fact it was a tragic day for the entire City itself.
Manchester United @ManUtd 8h
Today we stand side-by-side with Liverpool to remember the 96 fans who lost their lives at Hillsborough on 15 April 1989.

i wonder if Stans brother ever did survive??
I want to say I hope so, but it's a lose lose really, as if he didn't someone else did
Not sure where to start. I can only imagine how difficult it was to compose that. Kudos. Thank you
Makes me sick when I read of the fan who tried to climb the gate but was then pushed back in. Was he one of the 96? The fact of the matter is if you didn't know their name, anyone of them could have been
T-Bone thanks for putting this up, really emotional read.
Like you I was 12 at the time and remember listening to it on the radio with my mate and we were just in total shock as we realised what was happening. Even though I'm from down south I have supported this great club from the age of 4 and my dad even though he isn't a Liverpool fan he has a soft spot for them and would try to take me as often as he could. It did tug at the heart strings as your dad sounds like a similar sort of character to mine.
I have no idea how people have managed to get through the years since especially having their loved ones names dragged through the dirt. They have my total respect for the way they have dealt with it.
Have pretty much given up on commenting on this forum these days but had to after reading your memories of what happened on that day T Bone.
Reading it was difficult, experiencing it......simply cannot comprehend what that was like. Truly hope justice is going to prevail though there's always some slime out there that never seem to get their comeuppance. If there is a hell then they have front row seats reserved for them.
Respect to you, your club and all those affected by what happened on that day.
Thank you for that. Never have I read it in that much detail and emotion.

Tragic day for football..
Listening to the five live programme yesterday evening (on iplayer and podcast if you want to listen) there was a forest fan that committed suicide after his experience... He couldn't have been the only one that would have found it difficult not to seeing those horrific scenes when he closed his eyes..
Heartbreaking story. Well done for sharing it
Justice.....now please
RIP
I think football and the wider society lost a bit of it's soul that day, It pales into insignificance compared to the lives lost and the memories witnessed by those there.
Not sure if it's sunk in for a lot of people that, despite it happening to our teams fans, it could've been any of you
I was nine years old when I did watched on it tv and didn't understand at the time what was happening.
Thanks for sharing that with us.

T bone and thanks for sharing these sad and terrible memories with us on here.
I knew (but not well) one of those who sadly lost their life on that awful day. She was a colleague of my wife (who also sadly died a few years ago). I know how devastating the whole event was for so many people and how many of those people are still affected 25 years later.
