Never been a fan of Vermaelen as a defender but, despite the positional brainfarting and impetuousness that blights his defensive game, I think he could be a useful player if schooled a little as a holding midfield player. Quick enough to cover the area, decent enough on the ball (certainly much better than the likes of Flamini) and strong enough to not simply be lolled off the ball by other central midfield players around the country.

Given time and given that bit of man-management required in order to see him control his indiscipline, he could be a genuine asset in that role.

Kim tackling ability is top class. Wenger should Seriously consider a DM position for him.
