Five stars from me.
Good Luck to Moyes. Even though the Job seemed to be above his station, good Luck to him.
I often find it a bit of a blood sport to 'cheer' when someone loses his job. It is a little grim. Granted, Moyes doesn't need pity - he 'd be ok and he is a multimillionaire- but rhapsodies of ecstasy because someone is sacked?
I find it in poor taste.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're a publically listed company & funnily enough depsite being in a dire situation before and after the Everton game your share price rose significantly. Doesn't take a genius to work out why.
I'm guessing somebody wanted to dump their stock yesterday so a rumour was released. It's all pretty shady.
I dont give a flying frig about Moyes. He made £millions out of all this.
I am concerned with manchetser United FC and he would have run it into the ground if he got his way.
A close shave for United.
Moyes.... you are welcome to him
It's alright saying now what a decent bloke he is, which I agree with but that shouldn't shadow the performances of the last 10-11 months that on the whole have been awful!
The players yes they are to blame for our results this season, Moyes wasn't the one putting in those awful performances. However, one thing changed from last season to this really and that was the manager along with £70 million invested, he hasn't helped himself either with puzzling comments and ones you wouldn't expect a United manager to make or any manager! "Liverpool are favourites for the game".
Put aside how he seemed a nice bloke and ask yourself this.
Would you really have trusted him to spend £150-200 million on transfers wisely and improve us next after the season we've had?
IF you answered honestly, without answering for you, I doubt many of you would have.

It's been handled terribly really. Reflects poorly on the club. He wasn't up to it though.

Completely agree. From Fergie leaving, to transfers, to Moyes leaving, the whole thing has been shambolic. We look like a bunch of armatures.
Would you really have trusted him to spend £150-200 million on transfers wisely and improve us next after the season we've had?
------------------------------------------------------------
Whether we would have improved is down to a myriad of factors but of course i would have trusted him with a ton of money.
The players we've been linked with are the calibre of players ANY manager coming in will be linked with.
If Moyes had brought in Shaw, Carvalho, Kroos and Mangala I can't see too many people being annoyed with that.

I'd imagine 2 years wages as United manager is about 10 years as Everton manager
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think he was on £3m/yr at Everton.
So if he was on a £30m contract over 6 years then he picked up £5m + £12m compensation.
His year at United = 6 years at Everton.
If Moyes had brought in Shaw, Carvalho, Kroos and Mangala I can't see too many people being annoyed with that.

moyes wouldnt know what to do with them if he got them just like the players he has already

With that quality of player coming in I suppose improving would have been a given and by god does the squad need improving, this isn't all down to Moyes.
However, I personally would feel more comfortable with a big name such as a Klopp or Van Gal(Who I don't really want us to get) spending that money who has experience coaching some of the top class players we are being linked with.
We will never know if Moyes would have improved us next season now, a shame he has been sacked but hardly surprising.
Of course Moyes would have done better with better players, but the fact remains he didn't do what was expected with the group of players he did have and so was rightly sacked.

No-one is debating that. But my response was a direct response to the question about him wasting money.
Would he have wasted £100 million? I don't think he would have (from a perspective of what assets come in even if he was sacked)
It's hard to say really. He wasted money on Fellaini so he might waste further big sums, as an manager might, to be fair.
I think the money is a red herring.
Has anyone seen anything in our style of play that suggests Moyes will use these expensive players wisely?
We have now paid top dollar for two players who have number 10 as their best position... with Rooney signing a long term contract and Kagawa already here.
We've also been playing a tactic that I can only describe as 'playing without possession'.
Think less about whether he's spend the money wisely, and more about what difference any of it would make to the overall issue.
'No-one is debating that'
Eh? You've been arguing Moyes' side to the point of getting banned from this site. Good luck to the guy but I honestly have little sympathy for a man who failed massively in a job he has been paid millions for.

I mean that that debate is over now that he is gone. The debate in question was a specific response to the question that the players he would have brought in this summer would have been a waste of money.
Keep up Mu84
I'd stay that was still debatable, but anyway no need to go over that as he's gone.
Let's just hope we don't continue to mess up, hasn't just been Moyes who has done a bad job for us in the past 12 months. I hope we don't end up in a situation where the new manager feels he needs time to see what he wants and ends up not spending this summer, that could be a massive problem but I'm guessing the board and Woodward have identified their targets irrelevant of who any new manger would want. In all it's still a mess.
This is a very sad day for English football...unless you are a Man utd fan
Feel he could have been given the summer but there you go
