The bitterness
------
It really isn't bitterness it's there for all to see for pretty much 90 minutes there was 10 men behind the ball. It really isn't a good advert for European football. One of the most important things in football is how you are perceived by your peers. In 20 years who are people gonna remember more the free flowing Barcelona for example, beating all who stood in their way with style and technique or Chelsea who bored the opposition to tears.
Wasn't it the reason Mourinho got sacked the first time because he played boring football looks as though he hasn't learnt.
So what will Arsenal be remembered for? Self-destructing in feb every season? Sticking with a tired, tactically naive manager who one day they love, the next day they want sacked? Or tripping at the last hurdle every time a big trophy presents itself?
Take your pick...

Trust me it ain't jealousy I support the biggest and most successful club in London what have I got to be jealous about, I just comment on what I see. I would never want Arsenal to play like that even if it was to win us the Champions League, some Arsenal fans would be happy with I imagine I just like to watch attacking football.

Yes, because 15% possession in the second half, at home to Bayern, is highly demonstrative of utter, lethal, attacking football.

Sorry but even with your blue tinted glasses on you know that isn't the case. 10 years really doesn't constitute a glorious history does it?
All I will say more fans and more trophies in the cabinet, simple.

Yeah cos playing with 10 men doesn't make difference as I recall until we had a man sent off we more than matched them.

We score 2 goals against Barca with ten men
I'd happily accept awful negative football to win a one off CL.
We haven't played more free flowing football than anyone else in recent years so it wouldn't be a huge difference anyway.
That said I certainly wouldn't want a total shift towards Mourinho style football dispite the fact it gets results, would much prefer to adopt a high pressing/pressure attacking style. Think Dortmand or Bayern last year or even Liverpool this season... certainly not outside the realms of possibility and can get results.
City and Arsenal both tried to play their normal, free flowing game against Barcra and Bayern Munich respectively, and where did that get them? And if Liverpool fans think that next season they will be hammering Europe's elite, like they have Spurs or Arsenal in the PL this season, then they are even more deluded than usual.
Football is not just about trying to play like 1970s Brazil all the time. Sometimes you have to use tactics, adapt your style in order to win games. Some of the younger fans of Arsenal and Liverpool obviously didn't see how their teams used to play and win things. It wasn't always pretty, that's for sure!

The Villareal vs Arsenal semi fimal in '06 was far more dull.

I very much doubt that. Villareal created quite a few chances that game but we managed to keep them at bay, we also have a few ourselves.
Not forgetting the last min penalty drama, that alone had more excitement than the whole 90mins of Altetico vs Chelsea.
I would rather we are still in the champions league playing negative football than going out every year to a semi decent team, playing the same way
Complaining about a team that are still in a competition that you got knocked out of and also having the Gaul to call us boring when we knocked 6 passed your sorry lot just screams bitterness and jealousy
Cfc are super boring to watch boring bus tactics that Jose once hated.
Same old rubbish, anyone that criticises your team must be bitter, oh no there cannot be even a smidgen of truth to it, it must be bitterness. At the end of the day if you are happy with how your team plays than that's good for you, but I personally find Chelsea excruciating to watch at the best of the times. Liverpool, Man city, Everton are a lot better on the eye.
We weren't force to watch chelsea so no one cares about your opinion
I can't believe people are actually defending last night's match. I don't care who you support, and you can think this is 'bitterness' (it isn't), but that was a terrible 90 mins for football fans. You'd admit it if you were at all honest.
Of course I understand it's a means to an ends and it's a perfectly legitimate way to get your club's name on the trophy, but bloody hell what a drag. And the for the guy that compared this to George Graham's Arsenal - also way off the mark, that was boring because it was always 1-0, nothing like last night.
Of course Arsenal fans sound bitter. They like to believe that they play the "right" way, but seem to forget that most fans of teams also like to see their club actually win big modern competitions aswell.
It comes down to two differing philosophies: Would you rather your team won at all costs, even if that meant winning ugly? Or are you happy with your team playing pretty and winning nothing?
"It comes down to two differing philosophies: Would you rather your team won at all costs, even if that meant winning ugly? Or are you happy with your team playing pretty and winning nothing?"
No, it doesn't. Neither of these teams are my teams, I don't really care either way who wins.
Trust me I get it, winning ugly is still winning, but don't just assume it's 'bitterness' when everyone gets bored watching it and they feel a little cheated.
Arsenal are your team, apparently. They epitomise the play pretty but win nothing philosophy.
You don't have to whine online about a game that doesn't involve your team playing. Just don't watch Chelsea play again. Easy solution.
