Harrogate- Not disapointed at all. Burnley fans all around, on Youtube, Facebook and even on here are dead sound. (That's good by the way)
CGG- Enjoyed it for the football and action and seeing 22,000 inside Turf Moor. The games I enjoyed the most were ManUre, Sunderland and Spurs at home and Hull away which I was fortunate to get to even every miserable away game. One game against West Ham at Upton park when we went 5-0 down and pulled 3 back in the final 20 minutes, I felt great after that game for some reason! Even against Man City in the 6-1 drumming, the city fans were a great laugh. Stephen Fletcher was named MOTM and they started singing 'there's only one Stephen Fletcher'
That's not the point Zakky. It was an experience and it didn't go our way unfortunally
Also we scored 42 goals and not one of them was boring. Atleast 3 or 4 could have fitted in that top 10 video from 08/09 which was voted for by the users of 606
I suppose you're right WES.
I was jsut looking at it negatively, was definitely some highlights but more lowlights IMO.
Especially the 3-2 vs Blackburn. That hurt.
Both Blackburn games hurt. The second game at Turf Moor was the worse game I've ever attended. It was dull and we were overpowered (even though Olsson had to cheat to win the game) Also seeing the Venky fans torment us throughout was painful but if the first game would have been at the Turf, we would have won.
Dunno about that, Wes, but you're right about the home game v Venkys where, like in too many others too, we refused to get stuck in and rough them up a bit. We were far too lightweight and naive for our own good as well as not quite being good enough.
I enjoyed the season in spite of that, it was just a shame that we dropped so many points against the poorer sides.
Ah well, onwards and upwards.
evensteadiereddie- It was just a learning curve. We did better against the better teams but worse against the teams around us and it was determined that home form alone can not keep you up
Absolutely right, Wes, that night against Arsenal, for instance, we deserved the win. Arsenal were good but we were better and stronger but, surprise, surprise, the linesman made a "mistake" over Fletch's superb goal.
Contrast that with the home fiascos against, for example, Wigan, Rovers, Bolton and Wolves. Priceless points just thrown away. And don't get me started on most of the aways....
I remember that game against Arsenal. I was suprised that there was only one angle you could see Fletchers disallowed goal from! Even then you could see Vermaelen was keeping him 2 yards onside!
There was the away game at Wigan where if Patos superb volley would have dipped one inch lower and one second quicker then we would have been 1-0 up. Then we lost it in the 93rd minute to some sloppy Steven Jordan marking on Moses. The game of ifs doesn't have much relivence now but IF we would have won and everything else stayed the same from after that game to the end of the season we would have had 33 points and Wigan 32.
That looked like some real football conversation right there!
Yes ! Well done, that's more like it......
Football conversation that even Arsenal fans can contribute too.
I remember those little games on old 606. One person starts with a question, the next poster answers and asks a question and it continues! God, my memories sparking now! And that 2000 comment article which cuneo started about a female offical and it turned into a 5 way messager chat with a 3 minute wait interfearing!
Indeed, and I - if you'd not already guessed - am the very same cuneo, much more mellow and compliant these days it has to be said.
Wasn't the discussion something completely puerile over whether CGG or some actress/model should be appointed first team coach.......
Or if not first team coach then doing the half-time lottery draw.
No wonder CGG cleared off......mind you, it sounds an "interesting" departure from 606 , no doubt there's been a super injunction slapped on the story to increase our frustration...
Is it safe to poke my head above the trenches yet?
Phew, it was getting a little cold here again in self imposed exile
My own fault I suppose for choosing Yorkshire to send myself to...
I believe the thread in question was whether myself or Angel Dark should replace Owen Coyle as manager, back in the day when Owen Coyle leaving seemed like a totally ridiculous concept to us all! I had to get in a load of Arsenal fans to vote for me as you Burnley lot all went over to the Dark Side.
Can't believe Brian Laws got the job over me!!! I was obviously far better qualified.
Thinking about it I much prefer the Prem season to the one we just had. At least it was a different experience that also gave us a bit of money.
This past season just seems a massive let down (well until Eddie Howe came in, but even then we seemed to have great form then rapidly lose it - that worries me).
You're right, CGG, it was a you v Angel Dark debate.
Only on the Burnley board, eh ?
Good point about the erratic form in the last third of the season, Telford - we need to get that out of our system pre-season and get off to a confidence-boosting flier not start the season playing catch-up like last time. UTC.
I'm back, hope you are all well
Welcome aboard, Agent U6698.............
Hi yourself, Its Onts, wonder when we get our names to display well could go with just a number
Ontario, you're meant to update me on what's been happening in your life these past couple of years! I know nobody else has done, but don't let that stop you ...
Ok so what have I been doing
Job: Still doing the same, making lots of BlackBerry's hoping the bad press we keep getting goes away soon.
Family wise: Still with Janet, her eldest son just (last week) had a little boy, Henry came into this world at 6.9 lbs and is up to now quite cute.
Health: going great and never felt better
Vacation wise. Last year was South of France, lots of wine, food and driving around. Year before was paradise in the Caribe, the island of Montserrat. The volcano was very smokey and dirty. This year off to St. Maarten.
Soccer: Still a Claret and always will, its just something about that little team that could.
New things; The lake house, just love it up there, still drinking beer and wine plus developing my stock of single malts.
Things I missed: you guys it was fun and really enjoyed the banter.
