Well maybe Birmingham are just coming up against top quality opposition
It's only half a shame. Noses can get relegated out of existence as far as I care.
Blues deserve to go down to League 1, no question about that. We've been appalling all season, especially at home. And of course the shenanigans in the boardroom & courtroom have only exacerbated our position. So perhaps a year (and hopefully just one year) in League One, will be enough to turn the club around, just as it has done for Wolves.
As for Villa: disappointed to see them fighting to avoid the drop (even though I think you're safe); I think you need a new owner, new manager and new backroom staff (although I would keep Sid & Shane). Might take you a couple of years to get things right again, but no doubt you'll be up their challenging for European places sooner or later - but only if you rid yourself of the above and start afresh.
Good question. It's potentially a problem with any team which is just set up as a counter-attacking side. So we do better against teams who set out to win against us than those which just bide their time. And they're more likely to bide their time when they're playing away from home. And maybe teams are more canny about this these days.
It became a problem when MON was here, not the early years but the final year, when teams cottoned on how to deal with us, otherwise we'd have got higher than 6th. Houllier was trying to move us away from that sort of play but didn't have long enough. McLeish went for counter-attack without the attack.
I thought Lambert last year was trying to play more possession football, whereas this year he's gone, most of the time, for a solid defence (or attempted to), which has worked some of the time but not of late, because our defence has leaked. And if you start with defence then counter-attack is the main option.
I've wondered if Culverhouse was more interested in training in getting the lads kicking the hell out of each other rather than improving the technical aspects. Our defence has been making stupid mistakes, the first two goals at Swansea were mistakes; a good defensive coach would have sorted that out. And further up the field the movement isn't consistently good enough to stop giving the ball away.
So I reckon the underlying reasons are that the coaching this year hasn't been good enough which has left us vulnerable, but more particularly the troubles behind the scenes have caused our slump from mid-table to dangerously close to the relegation zone.
Yep there are other reasons, like injuries, and players not being good enough, but I don't think they're bad enough to cause our current situation.
We haven't won at home for 18 games, since October last year.
How we're not completely dead and buried already is the only thing you should be wondering about!
Good points MCP
Have a mate who is a Wolves Fan and although they want to be playing Premier League has enjoyed actually winning for a change.
The gap between the top 4/5 is only going to get wider as I bet FFP doesn't have any effect in truth.
For most of the premiership the only realistic target at the start of the season is to stay up and that is not good.
BIB I knew it was a while, but that is hideous.
Lets hope Saturday brings the right results including those of other teams

Banter won't be the same if we're in League One...
We'll only have fans from 'Wersell' to jibe with
And I know nothing about grey farters and whippets...

Why no Baggies? we're not safe yet and have had a pretty schite season as well.
OK All baggies welcome
Same as Villa you could well go down but it will take some remarkable results, which at this time time of year however are quite likely
Fulham and Norwich have to win both of their matches to catch us. A draw in either game means they are flucked.
If we get 1 point from our 3 remaining games then they are also flucked, however, stranger things have happened.

For what it's worth I think you'll both stay up.
I reckon Villa need 2 more points and Blouse need 1. I think both of you will win tomorrow against teams who have little at stake. However, if you both lose it's adios!
