Strikers...

Very good Obj. After Giroud's steam-train like acceleration I don't want a player called Immobile leading our line!

All seriousness, how realistic is Balotelli? Marquee signing and a great player, just bat guano mental. Worth the risk?

Invariably teams know the value of their players, better players cost more money. If we are shopping in the sub 16M market for a striker, chances are he is a bit naff.

More money doesn't mean the player will be better though. Otherwise Andy Carroll would be a world beater. You can't just dismiss players because they cost less than £16million. Otherwise Lewandoski, Costa, Cavani, Jovetic, RVP, Messi, Ronaldo, Reus, Higuain, amongst countless others, were all not worth it for the clubs they joined, even if they left after for more.

You're so on point there

Money doesn't always equal quality.

United purchased Vidic for a measly 7mill. Arguably the greatest CB of the 2000s.

Can't help but feel that we missed the boat on the strikers front, lots were floating around last summer (Falcao, Cavani, Higuain, nearly Suarez, Negredo, Jovetic, Neymar...). This summer though all those big names are mostly settled and it looks like the very top strikers are going to be very difficult to prise away from their clubs.

We should just take whoever is next in line at Atletico, they seem to know what they're doing when it comes to young strikers - Torres, Aguero, Falcao, Costa, Forlan...they certainly know how to develop their frontmen.

Of all the names above, only Higuain and Negrego were in our reach.
Cavani and Falcao were already targeted by the oil money clubs, so that was dead from start.
Jovetic, well the jury still out there for him and with his injury record, I still think he is not worth what City paid for him
Neymar deal was done years ago...
And Suarez, we did bid a respective amount of money for him. Some would say that we triggered his release clause (if he had one).
Sure with the season he had, it is easy to say that he was worth far more than £40M but don't forget that a year back, he was still the bad, racist human biting guy who no one else wanted (well, no aware of any other bid) so even last year, there was no many strikers available.

He's not the definitive answer but I would like us to try and get Bony as an impact striker if we can't get a real world class striker.

Bony would be disastrous. He's at his level.
