Hes a good player, lacking end product, that still might come though. One of the biggest things that annoys me is when people dismiss a players worth after a season despite being bought for usually a minimum of 4 seasons possible 8-10 at willians age.
Does seem however that Mata was sacrificed because his lack of defensive work or w.e. Oscar was preferred by Mourinho if I recall him saying. 30m is a lot of money though but only time will tell.
bit look when we lost Mata we lost 25 goals a season fact.
We spent £30m on his replacement and he doesn't even come close. I kept my mouth shut all year over this but now after witnessing the consequence of selling Mata, I truly regret it. He played for the shirt which is more than I can say for most players in the world. It will hurt when he eventually gives everything to United.
We would win the league if we kept Mata.
I seem to remember Oscar being preferred over Mata, never struck me that Willian was his replacement. Think he saw Mata as a No.10 as he didn't like him out wide and he preferred Oscar as a No.10 and the 1st half of the season Oscar was doing pretty damn good and works much harder defensively.
Mate I would of been happy to have Mata play any position not deputing #10 position.
Oscar is better in there and the better overall player but seeing him sit on United bench yesterday hurt me soo much. Had he of given us up for something better for him, at least, but this is good for no one.
Playing at United keeps him out of the Spain squad, his form has been poor all year, I feel we have just seen a guy throw his career away for money and Mata is too much of a good person to do that. There is no doubt in my mind had he of played for us all season he would of been in a much better situation.
I can fully understand, I think you have a right to feel like that I think I would, I think RM fans thought the same when Ancelotti let Ozil go, his stats were something like 9 goals 13 assists in 23 la liga starts last season.
Not sure Willian has done much wrong though, hes done whats asked of him really, 30m might seem a tad too much but if he could improve his end product he has all the attributes to go with it. Most players need bedding in time when they move to the EPL too, only time will tell if it was 30m well spent.
Yes his end product is the problem, same thing Spurs say about Lennon. If I cannot accept that excuse for a player from Spurs, what do you think i expect from my own team??
Willian has taken pretty much every corner since Mata left, witht the players we have we should be a threat but Willian fails to clear the first man 8/10 times.
We well over paid for Willian I think, like most said this season he is just a runner.
Do not let people fool you into think hardwork is a substitute for a quality footballer because it isn't.
I think hes more then a runner though hes got ability on the ball just needs to add a few goals n assists but in his defence the way chelsea played this season doesnt help him with that either.
TOOO DRUNK TO TYPE BACKK LOOOOLLL
Willian very good player but worth around 15 m Roman only paid so much to prevent him going to Liverpool , do not rate Oscar, Will be a big blow to Chelsea if Hazard leaves in summer
Willian is an intelligent footballer, excellent at carrying the ball and sidestepping with a deceptive turn of pace.
Enjoy his sharp body feint movements too...just needs to add scything cutting edge passes to his reportoire, be more decisive with passes rather than sloopy.
Also being composed infront of goal in the final third wouldn't go a miss, gets himself into good positions to get shots on target/goals(at times) only to spurn them.
With a season under his belt now, feel he'll improve next season.
Worth £30m?
Remains to be seen, we'll see next season. 2nd season acid test.
Just a runner! Ha leave it out! He is excellent on the ball. I do agree that he needs to up his assists and goals, but he's not even finished his first season yet.
Looks a very good player. A strange system at chelsea probably doesn't suit everyone but,he would walk into any other side in the league and if you let the shackles off there are 10-12 goals a season there no prob.

He's never got more than 5 league goals in his career and he's 26 now. Unless he is a late bloomer (which is possible considering this is the first top league he's played in, and he's only started getting called up for Brazil), those stats are worrying. At £30m I would expect a more rounded player.

Next season when we play the attacking way that Mourinho wants us to play you will see that he is worth every penny. The guy has pace, skill and Mourinho has now got the defensive side out of him.
When given the freedom next season I think you will be eating your words

we overpaid at £30m based on this season, but you really have to give him another year.
He brings a lot to the team in terms of energy and drive but those are qualities I would expect from a CM not an attacking one.
We didn't buy him as a 1 year impact player. He has been bought with the future in mind. I agree with Chelseamf's assessment. I'd like to say the same about Schrulle as well.
