My favourite performance was against Norwich at the beginning of the season. We only scored twice, but all the new signings (particularly Eriksen) seemed to play well that day. Really thought it was the start of something special
The best I seen us play was against Norwich
under AVB.
Thats not saying much thou
HAs to be 0-5 at the lane v Liverpool
I was at that home game against Stoke and we did completely dominate them, although they had quite a few injury problems and weren't quite the tough proposition they've become in the second half of the season. Soldado and Ade were still working well together, Dembele had a rare good game, and Lennon even scored. We even started with Fryers and Naughton as full-backs and still looked solid.
The Newcastle win away was good - although they were shocking. The Southampton game, where Siggy scored a last-minute winner, was fun for all the wrong reasons.
The most enjoyable 90 minutes was the 5-1 against Sunderland. Their goal aside, which came from another horrible error, we played really well and Eriksen was a beast. Winning at OT always feels like a great achievement, because the first one took so long to come. We've now become their bogey team - 3 wins in a row if we win next season. They may have been awful, but it's still fun to beat them.
My personal favourite was the second leg against Benfica in the Estadio da Luz. With a scratch side, we almost pulled off the unthinkable and actually acquitted ourselves well in a match with quality opposition. I was also there, in the away end, and getting very excited when Chadli got his second. Kane should have had a pen, Siggy should have scored, the rest is history.
It says it all that our centre-back pairing that night, the makeshift combo of Sandro and Fryers, has been one of our most solid of the season. Says it all.
Paulinho's little backheel was also a moment of magic - but I'm scraping the barrel a bit now. He's had a very disappointing season, but that was genuine quality.
Its been poor all in all. On paper it would have been United as the biggest scalp but sadly that boat sailed as they were getting beat by all and sundry. Hopefully next season (or the season after that....) we will be able to say we had a great performance against a great team (no offence) and not an also ran

I've put this season into a little box, wrapped it in barbed wire and buried it deep in the depths of my soul.

how quaint
I put mine out for the bin men Galv. Heard them laughing as they threw it in the crusher...

The Newcastle performance was the best for me. It should have been 8-0 but we totally bossed that from start to finish. I enjoyed every single minute of that one.

It would only be flattering if we had 4 shots on goal and they all went in.
I remember we suffered a bit when Dembele went off in the middle of the 2nd half but other than that it was a joy to watch.
