Genius - I am disappointed with the conduct of our fans who are putting the boot into Sherwood surely as Spurs Fans we are better than this type of Plastic behaviour ?

Hi Numbers............................

Firstly I think Sherwood has not helped himself in terms of the way he conducts himself. I personally do not think it is good to berate your players in an interview with the press. It hardly gets them motivated and on your side does it?

However, there is no need for some of the comments directed at him, I believe he has done his best and unfortunately it has not been good enough.

Spurs fans can be a fickle bunch, however look at Arsenal fans. It is not that long ago that there were screaming for Wenger to be sent packing!

What the fans want apart from a winning team is not a consideration that the clubs board take much heed too.its all about balancing the books.Enic is in it to make a profit a whilst Levy does that he is not in much danger of leaving, the disastrous decisions he has made in his managerial appointments beggars belief, must be Teflon Dan.
The fans at Arsenal in a very small minority calling for Wengers dismissal will have to be disappointed because the board of directors think the sun shines out of him

Great article.

However as supporters it's our right to be critical when we see our best players sold every season and a supposed long term plan chucked out to be replaced by an amateur.

The one constant is the players and I back them to be a completely different force next season with a new manager playing them to their strengths.

Tim complaining about the players today shows the impact that having him in charge has had - they know he has no credibility in the game and is figuring it out as he goes - making mistakes both off and on the pitch.

It's not plastic to want your club to improve, that's all I want, and appointing Sherwood was just killing time.. forgive me if I don't enjoy watching the club happy to write off half a season due to Levy's itchy finger.

So why an 18 month contract if we were only keeping him until May 2014? Well several reasons, firstly I think he was told that it was conditional on the team's performances and league position as to whether he would be considered as manager going forward.

Secondly, the 18 month thing was a bit of a red herring. Levy obviously thinks TS is not the man to lead Spurs over the next 2-3 years but in giving him 18 months, he was effectively rewarding him with a £1m pay off once his contract is terminated.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

I think you are a bit wide of the mark here in your reasons for the 18 month contract. Sherwood publicly stated, when he knew that he was the only option open to Levy, that he did not want the job on a temporary basis. It was either a proper contract or nothing doing. So.....an 18 month contract that most fans saw through.

And even if Levy did want him gone in May 2014 the compensation might not be that high if he can offer Sherwood his old job back, plus a bit of make weight in his bank account, then this would probably satisfy any contract dispute in Levy's favour if Sherwood refused his old job.

----------------------------------------------------------
Thirdly, Sherwood does not have the necessary experience or qualifications to manage a PL club at this point in his career. Maybe a League 1 or mid table Championship club, and don't forget he has not even enrolled on the courses required let alone begin the process!

----------------------------------------------------------

I doubt that this would stand up as a reason for terminating the contract. After all, the lack of qualifications was known about before the contract was awarded.

But to answer your main point, why the vitriol? Because many football fans pay good money for 90 mins of entertainment, and many others put their heart and soul into a club so wanting them to do well. If they see poor management or players not trying or with a couldn't care less attitude they vent their anger in vitriol at those they think are to blame.

And in this case most of the vitriol is aimed at Levy, Baldini and the managers, AVB for his borefest, and Sherwood for his perceived incompetence.

Fair enough Genius, I've vented frustration on here but I do accept we're generally one of the better run clubs in the league.. I'm waiting to see if Real start a campaign to get Suarez and how their owners deal with it.

IMO we should have done the Bale deal as soon as we had that huge offer, a few million on the sale price cost us much more in scrabbling around to spend the proceeds. Moutinho was apparently let slip over a fraction of the sale price..

Next season

People are ranting at the wrong person. Constantly criticising Sherwood. What did people expect ffs . Ridiculous to sack the manager with no other option.

Well we move on, who knows what we'll end up with but it's a wise move not to get too fond of the new manager cos it's likely he won't be around for long.

Sherwood makes mistakes, he gets criticised. He then compounds it by not being able to conduct himself properly in the press. It's no different to people ranting about players being unprofessional.. except they've earned the right to be there.. or should we stick to slating the people that brought them in..? Tim was happy to take the job, I'm sure he's big enough to cope with a bit of criticism when he gets it wrong.. or at least keep it zipped and go out with a bit of dignity.

Why would you stick by a manager (AVB) who would a 'dead man walking' for eve longer than Sherwood has been?

Why can't all spurs fans be like Genius Greaves?

Excellent article

I've been embarrassed by the level of hatred towards Sherwood. No better than the way the chaavs treated Benitez.

Hatred!!!! Bit of a strong word to use to describe dissatisfaction with Sherwood's management style!

Just because people rant and rave about the manager of their favourite football team, especially after expectations have not been realised, does not mean they hate him (or anyone else in the rant and rave mix).

I can't stand him as manager of Spurs but bear no malice towards him personally. If I met him, like most on here, I would hope that normal civilities would be observed even if we are glad to see the back of him..............as manager.
