He's having arguably his best season...and it only really started in Jan
Our style of play is too restrictive if none of these top European strikers can play in it.
Whichever strikers we sign this summer they won't be better than Higuain and Cavani.
Guaranteed.

Maybe if Messi is looking for a way out of Barca for being mediocre and the Barca fans not wanting him there, maybe we should put in a checky bid
TBH I don't think Hig is the Answer IHO.
Who's out there and would come to us?
Cavani
Hig
Jov
Benteke
Kane
??????????
I can see Jovetic or Benteke possibly happening, none of the rest though. Both seem to be quite injury prone, especially Jovetic which isn't what we need.
If we could guarantee 30 fit games a season out of Jovetic then I would say take him but with his record you can't do that.
He isn't a goalscorer either, more a link man between midfield and attack who scores 1 in 3, 1 in 4.
Benteke we will massively overpay for, and thats a huge risk given his own injury record. He has got Carroll mark 2 written all over him sadly.
I disagree, Benteke is nowhere near injury prone as Carroll and has had three good seasons, not just half a good season like with Carroll.
According to transfermarkt he's missed 20 Games in 3 seasons with Villa, with 12 of those with the same injury.
Sturridge has missed 54 Games in 2 1/2 seasons with Liverpool.

20 missed games in 3 seasons really isn't that bad. It's no less games missed than Aguero, Costa, van Persie, Rooney in that time. We aren't talking anywhere near a permanent crock like a Sturridge or carroll.
van Persie has missed 31 in his time at United, so really Benteke isn't as injury prone as I though. His form is very patchy, can get 10 goals in 10 games then go the rest of the season without scoring any.
That is true, but can be somewhat offset by the fact he is still quite young and has been playing in a poor Villa team with a very poor manager who couldn't buy a win. Sherwood has galvanised him since.
Carroll didn't miss a lot of football in the 18 months before we signed him.
Hopefully Benteke will stay fit for the rest of his career, but given his price tag, question marks over his style of play linking with ours and the fact he does get injured, makes me worried about signing him.
I would much rather spend £30m on Cavani, Higuain, Bacca, Lacazette etc than Benteke.
Obviously so would I, just being realistic that the only one of those we have a good chance of signing would be Benteke, but let's see.
