No there not.
We were, but we have given up.
Still unsure on benteke..
is he really the right type of forward for us?
and for that much money... i think we could probably do better

Clyne bid confirmed.
Benteke worries me at £32m.
At least it would be a statement of intent though.

At least Villa might stop beating us.
i like clyne, would be a good addition as long as its 15mil or less.
As for benteke a statemet of intent is good and all, and we might get a few extra points from villa, but not a single one of our players can cross for toffee..

"and for that much money... i think we could probably do better"
you'd think so
but then you struggle to come up with names of people who would actually sign for us that also score that many goals

"True, but again you have to look at the fact he scores that many because he has a system that feeds him, and is suited to him."
he could be Darren Bent mkII in other words

I like Benteke a lot but indications are that Villa won't entertain offers of less than the £32.5m buyout clause. That is a lot of money, perhaps we could look at other options first.
Sides consider offers lower than the buyout clause. The clause just tr
I reckon if we bid £28mil and held firm (and no one else bids higher) they would take it. Especially if the player is demanding the move on their end.
There are not many good strikers at the end of the day. We know we can set up a team that would feed him so really the only concern is the injuries.
Don't care about the money.

It's certainly easier for us to buy PL players.
In most cases only a maximum of 5 clubs providing serious competition, as successful players in the Prem don't tend to transfer abroad from the lesser clubs. A move to a better Prem club is the natural move.
Signing from abroad usually means we have a lot more competition.
What do we need from a striker:
we potentially have Sturridge Ings Origi and Benteke in the squad, with sterling having proven he can play at the top end too and Ibe and marko having potential to play higher up the pitch too. (especially if tthe formation calls for no wingers/wingbacks..)
So im going to assume we will play the diamond again, because i think thats what the playerbase fits..
We need someone with decent pace, we have seen lambert struggle with our style due to having no pace, and lallana break up a lot of attacks with his inability to move the ball at speed
We need someone that presses from the front, and can hold up the ball, Ballotellis lacklustre performances left us horribly exposed, he would have dropped deep to get the ball (fine) then try to tak on the world and its dogs, inevitably losing the ball rather than keeping it and playing it to an overlapping midfielder, at which point he would flap his hands rather than make himself a nuisance while the opposition poured forward at our defence.
They also need a decent finish, stering has been our primary striker this season, and boy does his finishing need some work!!! the united games would have gone very different if we had the potential to put the ball away.. The finishers we do have that are accurate generally hit weak shots, case in point being the differences between lallanas 1 on 1 in the stoke game and the gerrard one..
Pace, Pressing from the front, the ability to hold up the ball and bring others in to the game, and a decent finish...
anyone watch benteke enough to be able to comment as to these attributes?
